Highly decorated combat veteran from both Iraq and Afghanistan. Spent most of my formative years in bars along 6th Street and in strange sorority girls arms. Sobered up and found myself in Basic Training. By then, my fate was sealed. I'm a proud Non Commissioned, I hunt, I fish, I'm a sports nut and I spend my lunches in the gym instead of Whataburger.
Last year, a tornado hit my neighborhood and did a substantial amount of damage. I didn’t have electricity for almost 24 hours. It would’ve been a shame to let all that beer get warm.
If Mack goes at the end of the year, I could see Saban looking west. If he gets #3 in a row this year, I’ll think he’ll be ready to move on. He likes challenges. Texas is a good team with plenty of potential. They are a head coach and a solid defensive coordinator away from being deadly.
My bad. I may have taken it a little too serious. It’s monday and I’m still struggling to get past what happened to my Horns in saturday night. I’ll re-read it when I’m in a better frame of mind.
So, your folks are letting to stay at home while you get on your feet and you’re going to screw with them? Yeah, that’s real smart. Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean you have to be a dick. If my kids acted like that when I offered some kindness, their ass would hit the bricks.
I’m currently stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and the heat is killing me. When I was 22 in Iraq, it was no big deal. Now I’m close to 30 and 22 feels like a generation ago. I refuse to wear my uniform to and from the office. A) It’s too damn hot. B) My office is not airconditioned and averages 90 degrees in the summer. Add long pants, combat boots, a t-shirt and a long sleeve top and it’s a recipe for heat stroke.
I love running. I regularly compete in 5K’s. It’s nothing for me to run 3-4 miles at lunch, then come back and finish out the day. I’ve been a runner since high school.
It’s never easy getting started. Don’t quit, Catherine. It’s really good for your health and metabolism. Don’t underestimate the power of a solid walk either. If you have a treadmill, try 20 minutes on an incline at a pace you’re comfortable with. It will help your muscles loosen up for your runs. Just walk for a few weeks, then try your runs.
Ahhh…D.C. Being stationed there was incredible, but I didn’t work inside the Beltway. Best three places were Old Glory BBQ, Sequoia and The Birchmere. Solid food and good music. Saw Cross Canadian Ragweed and George Thorogood both at the Birchmere.
John, if you are interested in publishing sites that are veteran friendly and/or work to get vets jobs, please let me know. Sub comment me and we can talk. This is a great article. Solid home run, big guy.
I won’t purchase fresh food from Walmart. Meat, veggies, fruit…they have so many preservatives you’re guaranteed to look 45 when you die at 50 from the expired steaks you grilled from Walmart. Personally, I get my fruits and veggies from the Farmers Market(if I don’t grow them myself) and my meat is purchased straight from the butcher, except frozen chicken breasts and catfish. If I had to cast my vote, I’d vote for Albertsons. Their food is fresh, the wine is decently priced and the seafood is on actual ice.
That’s great! I wasn’t disagreeing with your article. It was good and I agree with it. I think my experience just comes from loving Autumn more than any other season. I combine my two favorite things (hunting & college football) and it just makes the cooler time of the year THAT much more enjoyable.
I think I enjoy college football more now than when I was in college. I’ve subscribed to ESPN college game plan every August. IMO, there is nothing greater than coming back to my hunting camp after sitting in the stand all day, eating some enchiladas and watching the Saturday night game while drinking a couple iced cold Shiner Jock’s.
After graduation, I lucked out and my aunt gave me her old living room furniture. However, it took me 6 months to get the cigarette smoke out of them and 12 months to get her perfume out. But I got a couch, a love seat, a chair and an ottoman. I let it sit in storage during my deployment to Iraq and that helped the smell. But, in the end, I had furniture that wasn’t totally hideous and it was free.

Check out “T-Bomb II” from http://www.bodybuilding.com. It will help boost the testosterone you have without adding any to your system.

#5, I dig your rock wall.

I envy you. It was 103 at kickoff of the local high school football game (population 1,500; only metal benches).

Rob, check The 704. It has a really cool vibe and it right next to the legendary Broken Spoke. I highly recommend it.

I’ve got a picture I took from my deer stand. Redneck?

Shiner “Jocks”? Good lord. People like me shouldn’t own smartphones. Shiner. Bocks.

Good Lord. Don’t show this to my wife. I’ll never get her back in the kitchen.
