Just tell Jack that you’re not feeling it anymore and you’re seeing someone else- this is the best move with the least blow back, which he’ll respect for you not wasting his time and so he won’t be wondering “what the hell happened?”
Any other option is just cruel and cowardly, and will leave more hurt feelings (whether he says it or not) and look bad on you. Do the right thing, be straight forward and let him go.
