Something similar happened to a good buddy. His project ended and he was told to either move to a new project in a shitty city or resign.

He resigned, broke up with his girlfriend, moved back in with his parents up north and has spent the last 2-3 months hanging out with his brother in NYC and backpacking across Europe.

Granted, he cashed out his savings which is probably a dumb move but I’m jealous of his experiences over that time. The stress of not having a stable income was balanced by not having to answer to anyone. He seems extremely happy. Wake up, hit the gym, grab a coffee….it’s like every day is an easy Saturday morning.

Enjoy the time and make sure you reset. These opportunities are few and far between.

I’ve been working from home for the better part of two years. I do occasionally travel to site visits but I’m alone the whole time.

The first WFH gig was pretty boring. About a year in, I realized I could work as hard as I wanted to or not work at all and no one could tell the difference. I take pride in my work and this realization bothered me to no end.

I recently accepted an offer for a new gig which placed me back up north. I decided to move in with my parents in the boonies until my lease is up in Texas. I’ve gotten way too comfortable at home and often find myself lying down for a nap or playing with the dogs. There’s no defined office so most of my work is done at the kitchen island (I’m too lazy to go to a public work space). It sure beats the hell out of clocking in and out of an office where I work a total of 3 hours and spend the other 5 browsing Reddit and draining data. I can now start working at 7am or 10am, work late or cut out early.

Ideally, it’d be best for me to make pals with a group who also works from home.

About to close on a house in my state’s capital city at the end of the month. I’ll catch all of you cats at Pint House.

I was recently burned in my cousin’s bachelor party. We had a few extra attendees and our VRBO host tacked on an additional charge, costing each member of the party an extra $75. I basically had to badger my cousin about his friends owing nearly $900. They each promised to pay but eventually just either forgot or ignored the request and now it’s too far gone to even worry. Good thing the wedding was a blast
