Soon. We screwed up a bit and recorded the first two that need to be broken up and spliced together (editing) once we realized we had two main topics and we are having some issues with it. The goal is for the rest to flow better and be more “raw”. It’s a learning process for us.
I haven’t read all of his books. I have read “American Buffalo”. It was very good. Another GREAT read is “Coyote America” by Dan Flores. It’ll change the way you look at ‘yotes and conservation.
Some public land can get very crowded and can give rise to situations like that. I try to avoid people if I can. For bird hunting, a general rule of thumb is you have to see daylight below your barrel if you are going to shoot, meaning no shooting at low flying birds where you risk hitting a person or dog. Your question is pretty situational.
Of course. More doves are taken by hunters than any other game species in the US every year. My go to, virtually everyone’s go to recipe, is the dove popper. A halved jalapeño, stuffed with cream cheese, a half dove breast placed on top seasoned with salt and pepper. Wrap the whole thing with bacon and grill until the bacon is crispy. I like to serve it with a wild plum sauce to balance the heat.
It depends. When I’m one hundred percent in camo and hunting with another person, I’m usually waterfowl hunting and very near the other hunters so we just hold a low conversation usually.
When I’m all decked out in camo and by myself, that means I’m archery hunting deer and there is no one else around anyway.
This is great. If I may parlay this into a bit of a plug, a friend and I will soon be launching a podcast dedicated to teaching people who have never hunted/fished/foraged/general outdoorsmanship how to get started and issues surrounding it. It is called “The New Venivores” and we are hoping to have the first episodes out next week. iTunes, stitcher, etc. If you have interest, give us a listen please.
Got my house sold and bought the one we wanted. Going to celebrate with a bottle of bourbon. Maybe try to get one last ice fishing trip in or maybe try to fill the turkey tag.
Morel and asparagus foraging. Turkey hunting. Fishing. The usual.
We are hardy people.
Are hot rod flame designs available? That would be cool.
You magnificent bastard. You’ve done it again.

Dude. Getting drunk and playing with guns and then poaching. Not ok. Never ok.

Rinella has a whole fried dove recipe that I’m dying to try.
I’m happy you have changed your views. If I can ask, why were you antihunting to begin with?
Have you been hitting up BHA pint nights in Bismarck?

I hunt. A lot. I’ve never considered it a sport. It’s deeper than that.

Does this answer your question?
I’m just fucking with you guys. I’ve already got all the brick and shit ordered. Let me know when’s a good weekend to have everyone over.
Since I bought a new place that is our new permanent home, so you guys think I should put a pit smoker/grill/bbq in?

This is…an…enlightening…comment thread.
I’ve got two kids and I can not even imagine what it would be like to not be able to prepare for having another. I’m scheduling the vasectomy NOW.
