While Friends is a beloved show for its ’90s sitcom routine, overload of nostalgia, and relatability for those of us entering the postgrad lifestyle, there were a few moments that you can’t help but shed a tear to. Rachel getting off the plane, Monica and Richard’s breakup, and Ross and Rachel’s first kiss after the prom tape all rank in the top five, but the one that truly always gets me is Monica and Chandler’s engagement. After years of watching the two be unlucky in love everywhere else, finally finding each other and knowing that they’ll be together through all of life’s ups and downs always hits me right in the feels. It did too for Friends fan Radha Patel, so her boyfriend Krunal Desai arranged the proposal of a lifetime for her at Monica and Chandler’s apartment.
London is currently hosting FriendsFest, a six-week long tour put on by Comedy Central for fans of the show to meet each other, bond over their shared love of Smelly Cat, and tour recreated sets. Desai knew how big of a Friends geek his soon-to-be fiance was, so he contacted Comedy Central to arrange for him to propose to his girlfriend in the exact spot where Monica proposed to Chandler. My emotions currently can’t decide whether I want to burst out in tears over this dream come true for Patel or whether I’m furious at my boyfriend for not doing this for me.
