Today my boss asked our team to pledge our loyalty to him. PGP.
“I pledge allegiance to the boss man, of this god awful work environment. And to the paycheck of which I’m a slave. 1 postgrad, underpaid, with pay freezes and loans for all.”
Comey?
No lol, we had somebody resign recently and my boss was pissed. We’re all at-will so that makes things worse.
Someone saw an episode of Game of Thrones and was inspired.
Or has been watching the news and followed the POTUS’s example.
Shit, was it Adolf Hitler!? Please say you didn’t Sig Heil
Oh you work for Leslie Knope?
Comes at a price. Business is business.
I agree, but employers have this expectation that we should be loyal, but they can fire us whenever they have a business reason to do so
I have no idea why people don’t like my initial comment. You should negotiate the hell out of the situation. The fact of the matter is that (1) you can be let go at any time or (2) you likely won’t stay there in the next 12 months anyway. If your superior has to actually ask for loyalty then he clearly is not making it worth your while to stick around and work hard for him. There has to be an incentive. Make he or she give a greater incentive if they ask for more of your life.
My company doesn’t IMO, my boss isn’t a bad guy, but he’s a horrible coach and my company does a poor job of providing learning opportunities. That being said, unfortunately I need to stick to it for at least a year
