‘90s kids, rejoice! The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers movie is officially happening.
Lionsgate has officially announced the release date of the movie, which will be coming to a theater near you on July 22, 2016.
While no director has been hired for the film, it is being produced by Roberto Orci, the same guy who wrote and produced some small films you may have heard of like Transformers, Star Trek, and the Amazing Spider-Man 2.
MMPR is being written by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, writers who are best known for their work on comic book movies like X-Men: First Class and Thor. While no plot details have been given yet, the official description of the new Power Rangers movie states that it will be “a modern reinvention of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of ordinary high school kids who find themselves infused with extraterrestrial powers and must harness those powers as a team to save the world.”
So pick an episode of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, any episode, and you’ve got yourself a movie plot.
It doesn’t take much to see that a Power Rangers movie is riding on the coattails of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, which, in just five days, has pulled in over $79 million.
As it seems, the next couple of years are going to be galactically tubular, dude. Can’t. Wait.

Hmm, now that I’m 30 am I too old for this site? Power Rangers was shit that my younger siblings watched… and I never understood why they wouldn’t form the damned combined power ranger robot thing from the get go.
Because if they did that then each episode would be over. Same reason why every shows’ characters make stupid choices, because there’d be no conflict.
Fuck this. Ruining my childhood one movie at a time
