When I got a text two weeks ago with details about where Dillon, Will, and Dave were staying in Chicago I took it as privileged information. Eyes only type stuff.
But then a week passed and now we’re on the precipice. And while I’d love to keep the sleeping quarters of these three private out of respect, I can’t. Not when they claim to be the most transparent podcast in the game.
I know I speak for many people when I say that we’re all sitting at our respective desks with baited breath, patiently awaiting the arrival of the Touching Base crew in Chicago, Illinois. I won’t lie to you guys. It’s going to be a fun time. Jokes will be told. Beers will be drank. Someone will inevitably get roasted.
I’m excited to see these guys as it’s been well over a year since I last had the privilege of being in their company.
But I’d be lying if I told you that’s what is keeping me up at night. They’re great dudes. There’s no arguing that.
But what I’m most excited for? The thing that’s really got my Calvin Klein briefs in a wad? It’s the River North Holiday Inn. I’d like to iterate that I’m not staying there. I’ve got a humble abode that suits me just fine, thank you very much.
But if you think for one second that I won’t be taking full advantage of what the Holiday Inn has to offer, you’re a fool. Maybe even a fool’s fool. That’s right. The son of a fool. The Holiday Inn is the place where these three will be laying their heads for the weekend, but I’ll be there on and off making sure that they get their money’s worth. It’s a hotel unmatched in location, amenities, and sheer swagger.
Take a look at this beauty. I could not be more excited to explore.
Sitting right on top of the Chicago River, the Holiday Inn at River North boasts some of the most spectacular views in the city.
If that building doesn’t scream “In town for a corporate networking event” then I don’t know what does. The bland outdoor design, the free breakfast bar – I could go on and on. It’s all beautiful at this place.
And that’s not to mention the facilities. My God.
You want to take a jog on one of Holiday Inn’s top of the line treadmills? Go for it, buddy. Maybe you want to throw a rager near the picturesque lobby. Fear not, the Holiday Inn at River North boasts a banquet facility for you and three hundred of your closest friends.
You can go from jogging and sweating heavily straight to the heated indoor pool if you really want to. And get this – complimentary wi-fi throughout the entire hotel. Yeah, you read that correctly. Wi-fi, bitch. And it’s free.
If you thought I wasn’t going to be seamlessly scrolling Twitter while I hit up the dry sauna (no, you’re not dreaming, there’s a dry sauna there too), you are sorely mistaken.
But John, what about dining options? Don’t you think with all of this activity you’ll work up an appetite? Glad you asked.
Snacks galore. A restaurant, and a cityscape bar where I’m sure the Campari-sodas flow like the salmon of Capistrano.
You want to know what I did on my lunch break today? I called the front desk at the Holiday Inn. They confirmed that there is a breakfast buffet and it is free for all guests of the hotel.
I might have to get rip-roaring drunk with a few pocket beers, eat a shit load of waffles and mini-muffins and watch from a few feet away as the Touching Base boys get a live podcast off. God, I’m excited. Join me, won’t you? .
