Controversy struck social media outlet Twitter dot com once again this week. Statements regarding beloved entertainment entities have set the site ablaze and users are weighing in with strong opinions.
Scrubs >>> The Office, let’s argue about it
— Lip Gallagher (@tonestradamus) September 5, 2018
Twitter user @tonestradamus set the site aflame with this opinion, accruing nearly 340 retweets and a heretofore unknown amount of impressions. Opinions in the reply section varied wildly, ranging from Micahel Scott “Nope. Don’t like that” gif to Stanley Hudson “Have you lost your damn mind cause I’ll help you find it” gif. Supporters of the claim were found to defy statements of “this ain’t it” with “this is it, king.” Despite Mr. tonestradamus maintaining a tone of level headed diplomacy throughout, more extreme groups went so far as to leave threats in the form of Michael Scott “I’ll kill you” gif.
Under the alias Lip Gallagher, tonestradamus backed the position that the character of Dr. Perry Cox (portrayed by John C. McGinley) was a stronger character than any of the individual characters featured in The Office. The series featured talent such as Steve Carell (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, Minions), John Krasinski (Aloha), and Angela Kinsey (The Office). He also lauded Donald Faison’s portrayal of Christopher Turk and the overall emotional themes present in Scrubs. Said Twitter user Kris, “Man I still feel a type of way when Dr. Cox lost those patients due to bad organ transplants and walked out. One of the greatest shows with plenty of memorable episodes.”
This is not The Office‘s first time coming under fire from critics. In addition to Scrubs, fans of NBC’s Parks and Recreation have been known to call the show “dumb” and “not as good as the thing I like which is better you dummy.” Critics also point to a sharp decline in quality following Carell’s departure to star in hit films like Evan Almighty and Foxcatcher.
Carell and series creator BJ Novak have yet to weigh in on the allegations that Scrubs is >>> and could not be reached for comment at this time.
So, we gotta ask: Where do you stand?.
Comparing these show’s isn’t really fair. Parks and Rec is a fair comparison to The Office, since both of these are workplace mockumentaries. Part of the characters is how they react for the camera.
Scrubs is all from J.D.’s point of view, and to a certain extent its mostly his story, so the characters are all his idea of them.
Scrubs has also been touted as one of the most medically-sound shows ever. Rarely relies on insane diagnosis or miracle treatments that would never play in real life.
Whoops. This should have been a reply to MayDay35’s comment.
But he actually is a reliable narrator, or else we would think Cox liked him a lot earlier on. And even when we do find out he respects him it is on the last episode. His narration is separate from JD the character thus allowing the characters to be as they truly are.
Scrubs. The Office is good but it’s just cringe jokes and slapstick between Jim & Dwight with the only compelling storyline being Jim & Pam while half of that drama is manufactured. Scrubs has multiple characters developed in depth with Dr Perry Cox being on the Rushmore of sitcom leading men. That being said, Office without Michael Scott is WAY better than Scrubs without JD.
Such a good take that I might throw you on that gurney and mount you like a lion
Are there any other people who have not been struck by the “magic” that is The Office? Real Duda type take here, not trying to be a contrarian, but that show has never moved the needle
The office’s over saturation into today’s culture of 20 somethings has killed it for me
Same here. I’m not a fan of the cringe humor, so I never really liked it. It definitely has its merits and some genuinely funny moments, and I can see why people like it, but overall it’s just not for me.
Yep, never did it for me.
I hate being “original British version is better” guy, but the UK version amazing, and its only 12 episodes.
I’m not sure which side I’d land on. On one hand, Scrubs’s abbreviated horrible season 9 is easier to forget than the season and a half worth of terrible episodes that occurred between when Steve Carrell left and when the show stopped trying to make Ed Helm a thing.
On the other hand, Scrubs loses some points because they failed to secure music rights for every platform, meaning that if you watched the show on Netflix, instead of getting Foo Fighters “Learn to Fly” in the episode with Matthew Perry, you heard some cheesy mariachi music that fit horribly.
They tried to scrap everything Andy was prior and write him like they used to write for Michael. Way too lazy for such a good writing staff.
The music thing kills me. Scrubs has a Hall of Fame sound track but Bill and co. didn’t do their due diligence. It made the show. Rain King with JD and Elliot bungee jumping is ICONIC. Imagine Turk air banding to royalty free bullshit. Disgraceful.
I wanted to argue that Scrubs’ disgrace of a final season takes them out of this rather quickly, then I remembered the Athlead/Mic operator storyline of The Office.
I hate that The Office is getting too much run on social media. It’s going to sour people, if it already hasn’t.
Eh, every big show gets that treatment when they get their syndication deals. Scrubs used to be found at any time of the day, same with seinfeld, friends (still), and big bang (ugh).
Syndication hasn’t hurt any of those shows, except big bang because it helped people realize how awful it is
the office. all day, everyday.
I don’t watch television.
Office by a country mile. People will be watching it in 50 years.
Only because it’s never gonna be taken off Netflix
No show has ever intertwined emotion and comedy like scrubs. Throw in hilarious secondary characters and amazing music and you’ve got the best show of all time. I’ll die on this hill
Everyone can agree the office goes but scrubs has more emotional depth, more theatrical acting and is jammed packed with humor.
Scrubs all the way. I feel like most people just like the Office because they’re supposed to like the Office.
Scrubs. It can make you laugh, cry and everything in between in a single episode. The Office is hilarious no doubt but the cringe factor just gets too much at times. Scrubs just has a better balance than the office ever did.
The office. And it’s not close. Scrubs was a very good show that goes in a list with a few other very good comedies (parks and rec, 30 rock, modern family, how I met your mother) The office is the best network comedy of the last 20 years
False: Futurama’s blend of comedy and emotion is unparalleled. Be careful when using hyperboles VUmobile.

How dare you place Scrubs in a league with How I Meet Your Mother.
