Lady In North Dakota Is Denying Fat Kids Halloween Candy

A North Dakota woman has taken it upon herself to fight childhood obesity this Halloween in one of the saddest ways possible: Fat Letters.

To a local Fargo, North Dakota radio station, a woman who identified herself as “Cheryl” accounced that she would be giving candy out this year, but only to children she thinks are at a healthy body weight.

Concerning the children who are on the chubbier side, Cheryl said she would be giving them a letter to bring home to their parents. The letter reads as follows:

Happy Halloween and Happy Holidays Neighbor!

You are probably wondering why your child has this note; have you ever heard the saying, “It takes a village to raise a child”? I am disappointed in “the village” of Fargo Moorhead, West Fargo.

You child is, in my opinion, moderately obese and should not be consuming sugar and treats to the extent of some children this Halloween season.

My hope is that you will step up as a parent and ration candy this Halloween and not allow your child to continue these unhealthy eating habits

Thank you

After reading this, I had to ask, why doesn’t she just skip giving out candy altogether? And did she not proofread this? It makes more sense to just tape this note on her door than to give out candy to just skinny kids.

I can’t imagine what life would be like if someone made me step on a scale or tried to guess my BMI as a 7-year-old before giving me one piece of candy. I’m not sure who ruined Halloween for Cheryl when she was little, but there is no need to spoil it for the children of West Fargo.

Before you know it she’ll be telling children that Santa isn’t real, and he’s overweight so we need to stop leaving cookies and milk for him.

  1. Hope she egg-proofed her house. Because chubby Johnny over here has a carton with her address on it.

  2. I surmise that she wrote this letter in the hopes that it would bring her or her depressing little town a shred of notoriety - Looks like it was a success.
