Personally I’d rather owe a little bit (not $2k worth, however) than give the government an interest free loan.
Definitely see your point, but I like to see it as a first quarter bonus, or a savings account you forget about. Then again, I fucked up my W4 and got a whopping $5 back. PGP

I guess you could see it that way. But if I was trying to have it as a first quarter bonus or savings account as I mentioned, it wasn’t.
I didn’t realize how widespread an issue this was until I started doing some of my friends’ tax returns.
Wife and I almost owed $500. Putting $2k in an IRA for 2015 tax yr so we are getting $8 back now. PGPM.
HR messed up my W-4 and withheld for 3…single male, no dependents. Sounds like we’re in a similar boat
My old boss purposely put 3 exemptions on his W4 and he is single. He would rather owe money than “give the government an interest free loan”.
