I must’ve missed this, but Tom Cruise is the new Mummy guy. Maybe most of you knew that, but as a noted Tom Cruise supporter, I’m embarrassed that I had no clue. Doesn’t matter, though. What matters is that they just dropped this little teaser on us.
Here’s what we know: The mummy is a woman which I love because it’s 2016. Russell Crowe is a part of this, presumably to drunkenly pick fights with random characters. Tom Cruise is being all Tom Cruisey, and Brendan Fraser is watching this trailer from a loft somewhere with a failed smile on his face. Most importantly, though, the hot blonde from Peaky Blinders is in it. Great to see her back in action.
I’ll probably go see this because I have it written into a contract somewhere that I have to see every new movie Tom Cruise does. I owe him that for doing Risky Business and Top Gun. The Mummy hits theaters in June 2017..

Universal is rebooting their classic monsters to make a shared universe crossover like Marvel’s Avengers. Russel Crowe is playing Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde.
A new Dracula, Wolf Man, Frankenstein, and Creature from the Black Lagoon will follow, presumably with other A Listers like Crowe and Cruise.
I’ll put $100 down that this whole this will fail before the crossover movie.
I dunno man, Cruise has WAYYY more hits than misses. I dare you to try to stack the number of bad movies he’s made, it’s surprisingly not many.
Yeah but these crossover movie franchise have to not just be hits that have to make mounds of cash on multiple movies. I just can’t see all of the monster movies doing well enough to justify a crossover film.
