Are you looking to add a furry friend to your life this holiday season? Well, this weekend may be just the time to do it.
Zappos.com (yeah, the shoe website) is partnering with Best Friends Animal Society to bring pets “Home for the Pawlidayz” and is covering the cost of dog and cat adoptions at 150 participating shelters across the country. Specifically, according to their website, Zappos will not only be covering adoption fees, but for each adopted pet, they will “donate an additional $150 to Best Friends to help cover the cost of food, medical care, immunizations, training and more for animals awaiting homes. Total donation amount, including adoption fees, is a maximum of $1.1 million.”
According to Steven Bautista, Head of Karma (whatever the hell that means) at Zappos.com, “Zappos is thrilled to provide homes for animals through Best Friends this holiday season. Thousands of dogs and cats are in need of a loving home and we’re excited to give customers the ability to make a difference.”
In the ultimate #AdoptDontShop smackdown, the program will run over the biggest shopping days of the year – from Friday, November 27 (Black Friday) to Monday, November 30th (Cyber Monday). To learn more and find a participating shelter, click here.

I think it’s great in theory, my only worry is that it will make it to easy to adopt a pet and people will adopt a dog, take it home for a month, not like it and “return” it. If you can’t afford the $150 to adopt a pet then you can’t afford to keep it healthy
I was thinking that too, but even if that does happen for some, at least others will find good homes.

Do they riot with cuteness?
Pictures of puppies should be considered predatory practices of marketing firms.
This is great. Just remember pets aren’t gifts.
It’s really nice knowing that with all the negative things going on in this world today we still have companies/people that are willing to to make a difference. I tip my hat to you Zappos
