It’s supposedly the end of the summer but it’s forecasted to be in the 90s here in Boston all week. So not only are “summer hours” over at work but it’s going to be hotter than hell out. Great.
But while I’m dreading sweating it out – literally and figuratively – at work this week, at least my weekend wasn’t as bad as these people’s.
Braylon Edwards
Whenever people ask why I tend to keep my identity rather concealed on the Twitter machine, I point to the hundreds of cases of people being censored or even fired by their employers for their social media. Not that I have anything overtly offensive or controversial to say, but why even open the door?
That door is one that Big Ten Network analyst Braylon Edwards is probably wishing he had kept shut right about now. The former NFL wide receiver was a teeny bit pissed on Saturday after his alma mater Michigan was beaten by Notre Dame on Saturday and decided to drop a since-deleted tweet attacking the team’s center, quarterback and offensive line…oh, and he dropped an F-bomb in there too.
From BTN: "Effective as of Sunday, Sept. 2, Braylon Edwards has been suspended indefinitely from his role at the Big Ten Network due to a violation of the network’s social media guidelines."
Tweeted and deleted on Saturday night: pic.twitter.com/v841zsMOnP

Edwards didn’t quite delete the tweet fast enough and the folks at BTN were none-too-pleased, resulting in the aforementioned suspension. On Sunday, Edwards issued the most unapologetic apology ever:
I would like to address the tweet from this past Saturday. I should not have attacked Ruiz and Patterson that hard or period individually. I apologize as a former student athlete and NCAA analyst. With that being said UM football still needs to step up so no apologies there.

Residents of Belton, Texas
If you’ve spent any time in the company of teenage boys lately, you’re familiar with the smell of AXE body spray. The folks of Belton, TX have thought they were being infested by hordes of hormone-filled young men when they stepped outside on Friday morning.
According to KXXV-TV, an 18-wheeler was driving on I-35 through Belton around 4 a.m. Friday when the driver noticed a fire in his rearview mirror. He pulled over and detached the trailer from the truck just before it exploded. Its contents? Aerosol containers of AXE.
FIRE VIDEO: Viewer David Clauder sent us this video from the fire on I-35 this morning.
The fire was caused by Axe Body Spray cans that had exploded after an accident: https://t.co/mXxjfSPnod pic.twitter.com/HfeXutWqKg

In addition to the lovely odor, the explosion caused 8 hours’ worth of backup on I-35 in both directions during the busiest travel weekend of the year and the road itself will need to be removed and replaced. Guess that stuff damages more than just your senses. [via CNN]
Bella Thorne
Another weekend, another celebrity robbery.
This weekend’s victim is Bella Thorne. The former Disney star lost over $150k in valuables after thieves broke a window to get into her home, and to make matters worse, they used her designer luggage to lug away their loot.
This is actually the second time burglars attempted to get into Thorne’s home. Earlier last month, someone broke a window and tried to get into Bella’s home, except that she was home at the time and scared the thieves away.

The Lieberman Family
What’s wrong with the Liebermans? PERHAPS THAT THIS IS LIVING IN THEIR BACKYARD:
MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME: A six-foot-long lizard took up residence in a Florida family's backyard, terrorizing the family for weeks. https://t.co/n7GbmJgKYo pic.twitter.com/l9u21EaoIH
— ABC News (@ABC) September 2, 2018
For the past three weeks, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission with a professional trapper have been trying to catch the reptile, which is believed to either a water monitor lizard native to Southeast Asia or a Nile monitor lizard native to Africa, in the Lieberman’s backyard.
Zachary Lieberman said that the 6-foot creature likes to sunbathe in his yard, which means his kids have basically been stuck inside these last few weeks of summer. “I’ve got a 2-year old and a 4-year old, a little boy and a little girl, and they are scared that this thing’s going to come back,” Lieberman said.
No kidding – I would be too. In fact, I’d likely never go outside again if that thing was in my yard. [via ABCNews]
Mariah Carey
Oh yes, the diva is back… in this column. This time, Mariah is being blackmailed by a former employee and it sounds juicy.
Stella Bulochnikov, Mariah’s former manager, in threatening to drop a lawsuit on her unless Mariah’s pays her millions of dollars worth of unpaid commissions that Bulochnikov claims she is owed.
Bulochnikov told Life and Style that, if she has to sue for her money, “The truth will be revealed. It’ll come out in court.”
An “insider” revealed what Stella really meant by that, saying, “Stella will go on the record about her time with Mariah and what it’s really like working with her. Stella will not hold back. There will be no shortage of stories. Mariah should be scared.”
Maybe not as scared as I would be of the lizard in the backyard, but pretty scared. [via Perez Hilton] .
