Mark Cuban always seems to find his way onto someone’s shit list. He’s not like most billionaires who keep their mouths shut on controversial topics to protect their public image. He’s high profile and is willing to call things as he sees them, even if his opinion is considered controversial by a media and a public that seem to shy away from brutal honesty. For example, Cuban has gotten a lot of heat for his recent comments on bigotry, and how we are all bigots and it is recognizing your bigotry that is the first step to correcting your behavior. It caused a shit storm, things were taken out of context, and many portrayed him as an insensitive, cocky, “frat boy” billionaire who only cares about himself. Just another day in the life of Mark Cuban.
All that being said, Mr. Cuban’s image is the way it is because of the uncomfortable topics he speaks out in favor of or against. He does not tout his noble causes, and had someone else not leaked this story you would never know how awesome a guy Mark Cuban really is.
Ever since 2009, Monica Wilkinson and her fiancé Leroy of Watauga, TX have been trying to get married. However, after several miscarriages and a still-born daughter, the couple had to keep putting off their wedding. It was then that they received horrible news — their difficulties in having a child were all the result of stage four ovarian cancer that had metastasized. Monica had to undergo emergency surgery, 18 rounds of chemotherapy, and her next stage of treatment is radiation.
As you would expect, the bills kept piling up and the couple reached out to charities to make their wedding happen. It was then that they received a call from one of Mark Cuban’s assistants that he would foot the bill for their wedding. Monica had her dream wedding, in her words, a “perfect day filled with love, hope, and joy,” and now she has those memories to help her fight the good fight with her husband, all thanks to the generosity of Mark Cuban.
