Dave Chappelle is one of the greatest comedians to ever live. The fact that he turned down an offer for $50 million dollars from Comedy Central to continue doing Chappelle’s Show is still one of the most mind-boggling moves in show business history, but I sort of get it.
I think Chappelle was one of those guys who never wanted to be as famous as he became, and when he really started blowing up I think he kind of lost it. It’s just nice to see him back on the comedy scene, even if he is just doing pop-up shows with Chris Rock at The Comedy Cellar in NYC. The two of them did an impromptu show last Saturday, and were later joined by Aziz Ansari and John Mayer (who, by the way, appeared on Chappelle’s Show for a really funny skit).
The four of them mixed music and stand up for a few hours and it looked like a lot of fun. I don’t know what they did following the show, but if I had to guess they probably went somewhere, got super toasted, and talked about how dope it is to be famous. I’d kill to be in that crew just tossing drinks back with a weirdly svelte Dave Chappelle, Aziz, Chris Rock, and Mayer. .

$15 to see Dave Chappelle, Aziz, Chris Rock, and John Mayer from ten feet away.
If you get lucky, the Comedy Cellar is unreal.
Aziz Ansari is such a little bitch though, pretty sure I’d get kicked out.
