Were my expectations high? Yes. Maybe too high? Absolutely. But what we knew were two things: Dave Chappelle was going to host Saturday Night Live in his most public performance in years, and all of us were going to watch it.
In the wake of the election, SNL skipped their normal cold open and instead had Kate McKinnon perform Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” dressed as Hillary Clinton only to follow up with 11 minutes of Dave Chappelle’s opening monologue where he didn’t miss a beat. They also brought back all of our favorite characters from Chappelle’s Show which blew the minds of everyone before putting Kate McKinnon back into the role we needed her to play, which was making out with Chappelle at a bar with their tongues out. Oh, and did I mention Chris Rock makes an appearance? Yeah, enjoy.
Yo Defries when are we getting another column on how to deal with the Scaries? Could really use one right now
The Walking Dead sketch was the goddamn greatest. It felt like they just let him run the episode like Chappelle’s Show. So dope.
That’s 100% what they did.
Needed Rick James in the lineup. Otherwise great and reminded me how much I missed Chappelle.
Kate McKinnon’s rendition of “Hallelujah” was hauntingly beautiful.
Sad to say but SNL is only relevant anymore around election season.
I respectfully disagree.
Agree with Will but the commercials are out of fucking control. Almost as bad as CBS Sunday Morning.
CBS Sunday morning has a lot of commercials, but they’re pretty short to make way for their longer stories.

I actually got home late last night and watched our recording of it. Much better, but I’m old school and enjoy TV in real time.
