Is April Fools a thing people do? Serious question: anybody out there in Peej nation have any good prank stories from over the weekend? It seems so trite and honestly a bit juvenile to try and pull a fast one over on your friends.
But, if you’re a celeb, or someone with a large following on social media, you’re pretty much in the unique position to completely take advantage of your fan base. And then quickly everyone realizes it’s April 1st and hahaha it was just a “joke.” Case-in-point: The Midnight, the band at the head of my newfound synthwave obsession.
-UPDATE-
Me and Tyler love doing The Midnight but, as it is now, it’s just not sustainable at the level we were hoping for.
We had some live shows planned but unfortunately we’ve had to cancel them. As it is now, we won’t be performing live for the foreseeable future.

Oh noooooo. Wait, April Fools.

Something like that, while juvenile, is no harm no foul, right? Right. But, then you’ve got Arie Luyendyk out here just causing mayhem….
Secrets finally out, we have a bunny in the oven! @laurenburnham91 pic.twitter.com/Mmx50ePDaB

Quick sidebar, Arie saying “bunny in the oven” gives me the willies.
But hey! He was just kidding! April Fools LOLOLOLOL.
APRIL FOOLS!

Look at that ratio!!!496 replies to only 36 retweets?! I’m crying tears of hilarity, this is like visual cocaine. This is amazing. Arie is getting smoked out here. Why? Because people are pissedddddd he’s using pregnancy as his platform for cracking jokes.
Though Luyendyk later confirmed the snap was nothing more than an April Fool’s gag, many found the joke to be insensitive.
“Come on. be better than that. it’s not a joke for many struggling families to get pregnant, it’s extremely expensive and it’s heartbreaking. I wish nothing but the best for Arie and Lauren but this is not funny, it’s cruel,” one user responded.
“1 in 8 women struggle [with] infertility. I really and truly hope that if this is a joke, when you do try to conceive you aren’t met with the harsh reality that so many face,” another replied.
One Twitter user even sent the polarizing pair a link to a prior ABC News article, entitled, “Why you shouldn’t joke about pregnancy on April Fool’s Day.”
As of Monday, neither Luyendyk nor Burnham have responded to the backlash.
In the words of Lauren B soon to be Lauren Luyendyk (haha): Wow, I love that. Not the jokes about pregnancy, that’s fucked up. But Arie getting roasted like a holiday ham? Yeah, I’m #HereForThis. After what he did to Becca? He deserves this.
Doesn’t he have a PR rep that he should be running stuff like this by? It just seems to me when you’ve got no discernible talents and your fame is built on basically the public’s perception of your love life, you’d think that you’d want to make sure that if you’re going to crack a joke you’d run it by your PR guy. I mean, I wouldn’t. I’d a tweet now, tweet later, and when everyone is all good and offended, come back with a half-assed apology. But if you’re Arie? I’d say your image is so cracked already from that Bach finale that you’ve got to do everything you can to maintain a clean image, otherwise your chances to be on Dancing with the Stars will basically be zero. .
Have some Arie-S-P-E-C-T, man.
The people who flipped out about it are actually worse than he is. Get a life, folks.
The joke is stupid, the backlash is stupid, and I am stupid for apparently caring.
This is the correct take, I think.
Trash move by a trash person.
Pretty much
What a garbage human being
Dude either has serious balls or he’s just flat out stupid to do this after the reception he’s received from #BachelorNation.
Arie Luyendyk is Traaaaaash
In laws came for the weekend and instead of letting my father in law hang out with his grandkids all day I had him help me hang some drywall and install GFCI outlets so…maybe that was an April fools?
The best part about April Fools Day this year is that it didn’t fall during the work week.
