Rapper Soulja Boy and R&B artist/noted domestic abuser Chris Brown engaged in some beef this week. Full on beefing. The short-lived saga may be a little confusing if you’re not plugged into the right social media circles, or if you’re not adequately immersed in hip hop culture. Let this pretty cool white dad from the ‘burbs explain and get you caught up.
Whoa, fam! My main man Soldier Boy (not his birth name) hit the ground running in 2017! What a week it’s been for him. So much time spent on social media beefing with Chris Brown, aka “Breezy,” aka that dude who put hands on Bad Girl RiRi.
Okay so it all started several days ago when Chris Brown’s ex-main chick, Karrueche Tran, posted a fire pic to her Instagram account and Soldier Boy liked it, as well as responded with the popular heart eyes emoji (😍), which of course provides the implication that he finds Ms. Tran physically attractive. Oh snap! In most circles, this simple gesture isn’t one to set off a high-emotion chain of events that involves gun waving and threats of physical violence over social media, but Chris Brown seemed to have taken it rather seriously.
She’s pretty! I agree with Soldier!
According to Soldier Boy, this dude Breezy reached out to express his displeasure with his behavior on Instagram, saying that Brown let him know he was going to kick his ass for flirting with his ex boo. Also talkin’ bout how he ain’t from the hood and things of that sort. That’s that real shit you hear about.
I have to apologize about the foul language. I don’t endorse the use of the N-word. Never have. Never will. These two young men use it rather liberally, but y’all know I’m not about that life.
Okay, so many reputable members of the hip hop community seem to think that perhaps Soldier is flexing on the wrong cat. Breezy is not one to be flexed on in such a manner. A bit of a wildcard is the vibe I’m getting from the hip hop world on this one. While not big in stature, the dude can apparently throw hands. And my guy Soldier is a skinny dude. He from the streets, though, as evidenced in the below video.
Another interesting note on this video: Soldier gets accosted while filming it. While a young man from his neighborhood approaches, Soldier embraces him like he’s an old pal from the block he went to kindergarten with. The gentleman is not so warm to Soldier, however. Again, we hear more N-words that I don’t agree with!
Soldier is hella active on social media, and I’m not going to break it all down for you because it’s too much to cover, but just know there were words exchanged and the two agreed to throw hands in a boxing ring. 50 Cents even got involved. Floyd Money Mayweather teamed up with Soldier Boy, too. The champ. It was this whole ordeal. The fight was on!
This is when we finally see the softer side of Soldier. See, under the hardened exterior of a cold-blooded rapper who made a name for himself on the streets is just a kind young man named Soldier Boy who loves his mother and feels bad about his actions. Mad respect, my G.
You have to respect this move. Squashing a beef without using physical violence takes a big man. Big ups to our man Soldier! Too many young people getting got in the streets these days, so it’s so nice to see a peaceful resolution such as this.
Sadly, that wasn’t the end of it. Soldier goofed up later by tweeting about Brown’s daughter. Brown has a two-year-old daughter with his ex, Nia Guzman. The daughter’s name is Royalty. As you can see in Soldier’s tweet, he said he hung out with Nia and Royalty at Floyd’s house.
Come on, my dude. You have to know this is going to upset Brown. The beef was done, son.
This is not well received by Breezy, who said the fight was back on.
In summary, Soldier thinks Brown’s ex is attractive, Brown is upset by this, they agreed to fight, Soldier backed down when his mom went to the hospital, Soldier chilled with Brown’s daughter, the fight was back on, and Soldier’s street cred was called into question numerous times.
That’s real..
This actually clarified a lot of things for me, and I’m black. Thanks fam
A bigger compliment than I’m able to express with words
Dillon and Ross dropping hella knowledge on us today. From the actual jungle to the concrete jungle.
I gotchu fam
Soulja Boy is still a thing?
Thank you, this was very informative.
I felt uncomfortable listening to those videos at work even with my headphones in
This potential showdown should probably get a breakdown on BDC. Soldier vs. Breezy its the match up we all need.
Honestly, I wish celebrities actually had the balls to fight instead of these stupid tabloid stunts to be relevant
This is why we at least need Celebrity Deathmatch to return so we can at least see what would happen if the celebrities fought. Also to see what they would look like made out of clay.
Dillion, fine work at usual. However, there needs to be a new stock photo for these. Dude is pushing an electric lawnmower and I just can’t respect it.
Very well written article, but it doesn’t answer the one critical question; why the hell should I care?
