Well, shit. Duke University’s Fuqua School of business claimed the top spot as Bloomberg unveiled their 2014 rankings of 209 different Masters of Business Administration programs. No disrespect to Dookies, but I doubt anyone saw that coming. Here’s the top 10:
1. Fuqua School Of Business (Duke)
2. The Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania)
3. Booth School of Business (Chicago)
4. Stanford Graduate School of Business
5. Columbia Business School
6. Yale School of Management
7. Kellogg School of Management (Northwestern)
8. Harvard Business School
9. Ross School of Business (Michigan)
10. Tepper School of Business (Carnegie Mellon)
MBA programs are a dime a dozen these days, as are MBA rankings, but top MBA programs are still the best route to lucrative careers in investment banking, management consulting, and eventually the C-suite. Duke is a great business school, don’t get me wrong, but it’s hard to imagine anyone turning down the education, prestige, and alumni networks of #4 Stanford or #8 Harvard to go to #1 Duke, #2 Wharton, or #6 Yale. Even stranger, Duke only finished in 22nd place in regards to student satisfaction.
This year’s ranking is sure to infuriate some, as they reflect new criteria, not any substantial increase or decrease in the program. 45% of a program’s score is determined by a survey of headhunters, another 45% is determined by a survey of the graduating class, and the final 10% is based on the “publication record” of the faculty. Of course, an MBA program should ultimately be judged by the job you get afterward, so perhaps these changes are for the best.
If you’re furiously studying for the GMAT, or the GRE since that’s now allowed, this might give you some perspective on where to send your top-rated application..

You’re joking about Wharton, right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Wharton_School_alumni
Never said Wharton was bad. For undergrads, it’s arguably even better. We’re talking MBA though. If I ranked programs, I’d give Wharton #3, but you’d be crazy to turn down Harvard or Stanford at sticker for an MBA though.
Agree with OP. Sure, if you’re going into consulting Harvard Business School is the best, but if you’re in anything finance related Wharton is 100% your best bet.
I’m going to go out there and guarantee that Harvard MBAs do better than Wharton MBAs.
Also a top ten list of places where I shouldn’t waste time applying.
Still have nightmares from the GMAT.
My uncle is an alumnus of Booth. He does very well.
Nice
In the picture up top, notice Jaime’s last name. Unfortunate to say the least.
Depends on what you are going to study too – Wisconsin is a bit down the list, but if you plan on doing a real estate MBA it is far and away above any of the other schools in that category
I’d go USC or Wharton over Wisco for RE
