If you take away all the partying, the drinking, the fraternities and sororities, the humans vs. zombie players, the sports, the tailgates and the oodles and oodles of questionable sexual experimentation, getting a job that pays well is pretty much what college is all about, right? At least, that’s what our parents thought when they plunked down $200,000 for a piece of paper that DIDN’T EVEN COME WITH A FRAME. Seriously, had to frame the fucking thing myself. Then one of my cousins broke it, so I had to get ANOTHER frame. $50,000 a year, they can’t even afford a $50 frame? Greedy bastards.
If it’s all about getting out of college with a great job and solid money, then look no further than Payscale’s list of Highest Salary College Rankings, which takes a look at the average early and mid-career salaries of college graduates at various schools (four-year bachelor’s programs only) and ranks them from highest to lowest. Holy crap. That’s a lot of numbers.
Surprises? TOTAL Ivy League shutout in the top 10, they don’t come into play until Harvard at #14; the lowest Ivy is Barnard College at Columbia, which pops in at #276. Columbia itself comes in the next-lowest at #55.
If you’re a STEM student or graduate, enjoy your rich-ass life, because most of the top schools are engineering schools; though don’t rule out liberal arts, with schools like Colgate coming in strong. Military academies are just blowing their opposition out of the water.
Syracuse, my beloved alma mater, comes in at #175. No doubt I’m dragging down the average somehow. PGP..
