Sure, it’s freezing out and sometimes you can’t feel your face after being outside for five minutes, you’ve had to duct tape all the windows in your apartment shut, and your car feels like a death trap any time it snows. Despite all this, I still think there are a few silver linings about this time of year.
1. Binge Watching TV
It’s perfectly okay for Netflix, Hulu, and HBO Go to become your best friends. It’s dark when you get home and no one wants to go outside in the cold. Sure, you can do this in the summer too, but for some reason it seems a little more sad when its 80 degrees out and beautiful.
2. You Can Ignore Your Friends
The good ole “Bars tonight?” text after a long week at work when all you want to do is let your body heal itself. The weather is almost always a good excuse. “I can’t, it’s snowing, -20 degrees out.” “I heard it’s going to get icy later.” “I don’t want to leave my car outside.” You get the idea.
3. The Winter Body
My body isn’t going to see the sun for approximately five months, so I can eat that whole bag of chips while sitting on the couch re-watching every season of Breaking Bad. Not that it really stops me in the summer either, but I’m wearing so many layers this time of year, no one is going to notice and that makes me feel slightly better about myself.
4. You Have An Excuse To Be Late To Work
“The weather was nuts and the roads were so bad. It’s a miracle I made it here alive.” You can’t pull that off in the summer now can you?
5. It’s Pretty Out
Despite the cold and terrible driving conditions, you’ve got to admit – snow can be pretty dang beautiful.
Winter is great for about three days…If that
Come up to Minnesota when it’s snowing in April and early parts of May. You’ll have a different outlook of winter.
The snow isn’t that bad, it’s the damn temperature that gets me.
