Sure, Halloween is past us, but there’s never a bad time to gorge yourself on chocolate. It’s cheap right now and you can probably scavenge a good haul from the various candy bowls spanning your office. That said, these bowls are probably picked over of the good stuff – and by good stuff I mean Reese’s. It’s the most popular Halloween candy in the states and it’s myriad of forms and seasonal shapes makes it the best candy on the market regardless of season or month. That said, the vehicle that you receive the decadent combo of chocolate and peanut butter is important, and there are a lot of them. Reese’s almost has too many varieties now. As a grizzled veteran of candy eating, here is my power ranking of Reese’s’ best shapes and sizes. Note: I was not paid for this. I just have a sick obsession with this candy.
8. Reese’s Minis
The only reason I’m putting this on the list is that Reese’s HQ seems hell-bent on making this variety a thing. It’s hard to miss on your typical CVS shelves these days. A bag of Minis is great in premise, but it fails in its execution. Often, the mini cups, which are not individually packaged, melt together and form a mass of wadded chocolate. Not the worst situation in the world, but there are better alternatives.
7. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups (stuffed with pieces)
To be clear: this is not the OG cup variety. This is the new, trendy variation Reese’s introduced a year back that melds together the beauty of pieces and cup into holy melted matrimony. Like the minis, this concept is great in premise but it often leaves me wanting, mainly because the pieces to cup ratio is typically wayyy off. If this thing is advertised as being ‘stuffed’ with Reese’s pieces, it should at least have 6-10 pieces per cup. Usually, that is not the case.
6. Reese’s Easter Egg
The seasonal varieties of Reese’s is what elevates this candy brand from great to Elite. Many confectioneries try to get in every stocking or gift bag, but only one remains a staple, and that is Reese’s – at least in my family. That said, of all the holiday varieties, the Reese’s eggs are probably the weakest as they don’t have a lot of detail and seem to offer less chocolate per package than some of their colleagues.
5. Reese’s White Peanut Butter Ghosts
I’d be remiss to only include milk chocolate varieties on this list. Reese’s also makes some great white chocolate candies and the ghost version is at the top of my list. It’s silky white outside masks a fun inner filling of orangish peanut butter that provides some nice seasonal flair for Halloween. Yes, you’re more likely to find a traditional cup in your candy haul, but finding one of these white chocolate ghosts is an added treat.
4. Reese’s Christmas Peanut Butter Tree
The peanut butter Christmas tree is hands down the best holiday-based candy out there. You can have your Peeps or weirdly-filled chocolate bars, I’ll keep the Christmas tree filled with equal amounts peanut butter and chocolate. Finding one of these in the top of my stocking Christmas morning was (and is, I still get a stocking) a highlight.
3. Reese’s Pieces
Kudos to the R&D team at Reese’s for deciding that they were not going to be content with just dominating the peanut butter/chocolate candy bar aisle. Instead, they decided to go straight for the throne of M&Ms and developed a highly-addictive alternative that is more suitable for sharing with peanut butter lovers. Reese’s Pieces have been a staple of my movie-going experience for some time now. It’s the perfect crackle and crunch of light peanut butter and hearty chocolate. Don’t you dare be that person that mixes Pieces with Skittles.
2. OG Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup 2-pack
It’s hard to get better than the standard Reese’s two pack. It’s big enough that having two in one minute satisfies your craving and small enough that you don’t feel like absolute shit after eating a full pack. The iconic orange leads into a dark foil wrap encasing the decadent cup. Everyone has their own method for eating one. I typically finish the first in four quarter bites and end up shoveling the second into my mouth whole. To each their own.
1. Reese’s Miniatures – Individually Wrapped
My top Reese’s variety is the individually wrapped Reese’s miniatures, mostly because of their flexibility. Four minis typically constitute one standard cup, but it definitely seems like more as you have to unwrap the gold foil of each one individually. The foil ensures that each mini cup remains perfect and makes it a perfect item to share. My favorite is throwing these in the freezer to get a bit of added crispness. .

My young son recently showed signs of having a peanut butter allergy and I spent some time on Halloween night feeling bad for future him if he can’t ever enjoy the perfection that is a Reese’s.
(And my pride is a little hurt at the thought of having “that kid who’s allergic to peanut butter”.)

I’ve been allergic to peanuts since I was ~10, Reeses are the peanut product I miss the most.
The Easter eggs are like candy that will get him the most. They look exactly like the malted-milk ball eggs and don’t often come individually wrapped and labeled. I’ve had many Easter egg hunts ruined by those stupid, delicious eggs.
You should probably get him tested for all other legumes as well- peas, soy, etc. I’ve got the whole lot. Also, you don’t have to be that crazy parent that thinks because their kid has a mild to moderate peanut allergy they can’t be around peanut products. Air-born allergies is incredibly rare and most of the “no peanut products at school lunch” rules are caused by uppity moms being over precautious.
We did the whole blood test thing and will re-do it again in a few months for confirmation on the findings (I guess the results can change when they’re really young), but hoping this is but a phase for him.
And 19th, I’m happy that you’re happy that I’m alive. Had to take a little hiatus from life to handle some personal stuff this summer. Happy to be back.
Justin’s has almond and cashew butter cups now. They’re def not the same as reese’s, but it works for when I want to pretend I’m being healthy lol.
Reece’s Miniatures are almost always cracked and therefore inferior to the original cup. Even the stock photo has a cracked mini.

Reese’s miniatures are way too much work, and as CtrlAltDelete stated, almost always broken. Probably not a popular take here, but I’m a big fan of the Reese’s fast break bar. Just a gigantic log of PB dipped in chocolate, with just a little nougat to provide some stability.
That said, any Reese’s holiday version win out every time
My go to candy bar by a long shot. Way better than a snickers, that being said I have never met a snickers bar I did not like.

Eggs are ranked far too low. The famed Reeses Easter Egg has the perfect chocolate to peanut butter ratio.
And they seem to be creamier and more moist than your average cup. This goes for trees and eggs.
Reeses’s Cups stuffed with pieces suffers from doing too much. It’s a bold concept that fails because there’s way too much going on.

Reese’s Pieces in movie theater popcorn is always the move.
I’ve done this with Reese’s and Bunch a Crunch and it really takes the popcorn up a few levels. I support this.
I do Goobers in popcorn. I should try this though, peanut butter is superior to peanuts.
