Christmas time is here, and for the past couple of months we’ve been listening to our favorite Christmas albums. It starts earlier every year, and that’s fine with me. Everyone has their favorites. Michael Buble. Bing Crosby. Josh Groban. Curiously, most of the well known Christmas albums seem to belong to men. And that’s fine, because there really is only one queen of Christmas, and that is Mariah Carey.
Mariah Carey really took a lot of crap after her botched New Years Eve performance of 2016-2017, but among female singers she is still the queen. Don’t even try to throw that Beyonce crap in my face. Beyonce was blending in with the rest of Destiny’s Child while Mariah was giving us five octaves of her soul. Not that Beyonce hasn’t tried to steal her crown, even in the Christmas realm. Beyonce recently released a collection of Christmas ornaments and sweaters, but the only Christmas album she was involved in was when she was part of Destiny’s Child.
Meanwhile, Queen Mimi has released two Christmas albums and her biggest Christmas hit, “All I Want for Christmas is You,” is easily one of the top 5 Christmas songs of all time. And it’s not like Mariah’s Christmas music only has a one hit wonder and several duds. Both of her Christmas albums are awesome. Aside from her elite voice talent, the albums have plenty of variety. There is something for everybody. For the traditionalist, she has renditions of “Joy to the World,” “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” and “O Holy Night” that will rock your socks off. She also has a solid version of “Auld Lang Syne” for New Year’s. “Christmas Time is in the Air Again” is a favorite of mine that shows off Mariah’s skills as one of the most talented female vocalists of the past century. “Oh Santa” and her rendition of “Here Comes Santa Clause” are of a totally different rhythm and tune, upbeat and fun. Classic Mariah. There really is something for everyone.
So when one of the most talented female vocalists of the past century puts out two Christmas albums and bares her soul to get you in the mood for Christmas, how do you not call her the queen of Christmas? Is there anyone else who even comes close? I can answer that for you—no way. Even if she bombs a New Year’s Eve performance or releases a Glitter sequel on the anniversary of Pearl Harbor, she’ll still be queen. She’ll always be queen. Once we all acknowledge this and are all ready to bend the knee, we can move forward and thoroughly enjoy Christmas. Winter isn’t coming. Winter is here. Time to get sauced on some egg nog and sing along to Queen Mimi..

12/10. She is ageless.
I read somewhere that she still makes around $500,000 every year just from All I Want For Christmas is You.
I like her rendition of Baby Please Come Home.
You can’t hate the Queen of Christmas
You should try and get her on the Casting Couch sometime. It’d be 5 stars
The fact that she was married to Nick Cannon still blows my mind. Honestly, she is probably Nicks greatest achievement. But it is time for someone to dethrone her from being the Queen of Christmas.
