About to ask my manager if she would be cool with me applying to an internal role. I’ve been in my position for roughly 3 months. PGP.

Go for it. But try to keep it on the down low too. I’m convinced my transition was squashed due to my old manager knowing about it and getting involved.
Check your HR policies first. A lot of companies require you to be in a position for 6 or 12 months before applying for an internal move.
Hell, why not try?
Needing people’s advice here. I transitioned to this team from an old one roughly 3 months ago and then realized that my work hasn’t changed much and I’m still directly interacting with people from the previous role (not super bad, but I don’t like it). The position that I’m looking at right now recently came up and I’ll be working with completely different people doing different work. I’ve been wanting to go there for awhile but there were no openings a few months ago, so I want to at least take a shot at it, but I have no clue how to introduce this idea and approach this entire process… Any thoughts?
Since I don’t know a thing about your company, like it’s size or hiring procedures, take this with a grain of salt. This is all just what has worked for me and my personal experience. Do you know anyone on the new team you want to join? Enough to just ask them to grab a coffee with them or something. Maybe someone you want to work under, or even next to (not trying to make this dirty). You could express your interest, compliment them (a little genuine flattery never hurts), and if they are a decent human, they will give you some guidance. Depending on your relationship with your current manager, you can also ask them. If neither of these options seem realistic for you, I would suggest seeking out anyone at your company you trust and feel comfortable being honest around and explaining your situation.
To get where I am right now, I had met with the manager of the team I wanted to be on for coffee and ‘career advice’ a couple of times before the job on her team opened up. She was extremely helpful and a great mentor. They didn’t even post it and offered me the job, which I was stoked about. Building that relationship was huge.
This is how it happened for me too. Had really good interactions with a number of managers and higher ups at various company events. We had a business plan roll out one evening that was “optional.” I took that evening very seriously and apparently I impressed. Eventually a position opened up with a manager I connected really well with. They never posted it internally. She called me and said I want you if you’re still interested. Obviously I was. This is at a company with 500-600 employees for a point of reference.
Also it was mentioned above but we have to wait 6 months before posting internally again. Check with HR they may have a similar policy.
