Yo Dillon, lemme cop that foxtail keychain you don’t use. Unblock me on snapchat and we can discuss details.
The Texas Law Hawk is pretty hot. Thanks for the snaps over the weekend, Dave.
Can we do a get to know the audience/writer segment once a week or month on the podcast. Bet Shib and Niv would be entertaining interviews
I think the best option would be to start with some of the more regular writers, then move on to the regular commenters if anyone is interested in being interviewed. Writing a quippy one-liner is easy, doing a radio interview is a whole different ball game and some of the interviews could be pretty bad / boring.
I mean just listen to the calls on your local sports talk radio driving home tonight. Most of them are awkward and terrible, and I for one doubt I’d do much better calling in to PGP.
Or just get a hotline like they joked about in one ep. That way Micah can filter out the lame people.
I actually have only listened to one podcast since I’m unable to listen to people talking and read work contracts at the same time without losing focus, so I have no idea what they talk about or if these are any good or not.
I’m insulted.
I’m commenting as I’m listening so sorry if you cover this, but I want to get real for a second and potentially open this up to discussion since you won’t give us forums. I like the rebranding and updates. You have to adapt for the future before you, God forbid, start tapering off. Change isn’t easy but neither is the growth you all have experienced and are looking to continue. From a psychological perspective, I was never a fan of the red, especially with the sad desk guy and occasionally depressing work stories. Red has a lot of subconscious negative connotations, while whatever – seafoam green, turquoise, blue/green – brings up both feelings of trust and personal growth. The positive outlook is great, and hopefully your audience will feel it as well.
Well, you nailed our thoughts exactly. Nice work.
Also, there’s a PGP sub-reddit that is essentially a forum. We didn’t create it and I don’t think we’ve promoted it, but it’s fairly active: https://www.reddit.com/r/PostGradProblem
I like the new color scheme. The comment section set up is bonkers though.
Completely agree. Improvements to our commenting system is high on the priority list.
Yeah but app users in the field don’t want to have to open Reddit. Can’t you guys just moderate posts with strict no racism and no porn to prevent the TFM users from abusing it?
That’s easier said than done, unfortunately. We’ll eventually build something custom, but for now Reddit is our best option.
Well “YourNewBoss,” I’ve taken about 8 years of Psych related classes and red is a color of passion and survivability. Turquoise is known to help people with speaking problems so it’s associated with communication. So no, red has no negative connotations. I also believe color psychology is bullshit, colors are just colors.
I’m not here to argue, because you’re not entirely wrong and I have better things to do today, but red is also often associated with anger, rage, and danger, which is why matadors wave a red cape in front of bulls.
Bulls are colorblind to red. It’s the motion that bothers them.
SW is entirely correct that color psychology is bullshit.
My only complaint is, if you can’t figure out what the color is, should pick a color you can actually name.
It’s called Tite Turquoise
However, with that being said I love the new site! Keep up the good work!
The color contrast is very intense/bright on mobile. And I only keep my phone at about 50% brightness. Maybe making the white a little less stark? Not a designer but it’s a hard contrast.
Animal talk is to PGP as Joe Rogan talk is to DDB
Joe Rogan is my spirit animal so this checks out
I’ll jump in with those who have said they like the changes and appreciate the overall effort to keep the brand evolving. Looking beyond the immediate color and logo changes (which I do enjoy), I fear the day I age out of the 20-30s range and can no longer identify with a lot of the content. I’d love to see an evolution of the site/brand that will grow along with it’s current contributors and readers.
I hated the color change at first, but it has grown on me. It did take me about a day to see the phone on the P. I only saw it once I saw the close up on twitter. Maybe make the theme of the logo a little more instantly recognizable.
Also it says a lot about PGP that the readers are so invested in the site to actually give constructive feedback, and that you guys actually want the feedback.
When is Hard Socks dropping, deFries?
I’m pro more animal talk on the podcasts-always entertaining
