“What’s your favorite bar?” is a question that leaves someone pondering with a grin on their face. A good bar has everything – the atmosphere, the music, the people, the menu. When you walk into a good situation, it just feels right. Hell, some might say that everyone may even know your name. Yeah, that’s a Cheers reference for all the kids out there who were too young to appreciate it.
As it goes with polarizing lists on the internet, a bunch of “experts” got together and somehow narrowed down 50 of the best bars in the world. How they got there? We’re not really sure, so you’d have to assume it’s slightly biased. There were 476 people included in the making of this list – mixologists (laaaame), historians, and various experts. And what they came up with? Well, I won’t sugarcoat it. It sounds like the most pretentious list of bars ever where you’ll spend $14.50 for a cocktail and $8.25 for a beer. I’m no expert (yes, I am, I drink all the time), but you have to imagine there are some hole-in-the-wall places that didn’t make the cut.

The bar that’s twelve hours outside of Mackinaw City that Bob Seger sings about doesn’t seem to be on here which clearly makes the list null and void. I, myself, have only been to one of these bars because I, too, can be an uppity prick if I go to the right city. We all have our vices.
Do us all a favor and drop us a line in the comment section with your favorite bar so we know where to go while in a new city. We have to stick together. .

Say what you want about the list but the fact that the best bar in Europe is The American is a total power move.
Oddly enough the lobby bar at the Doubletree Tulsa doesn’t make the cut. Fuck my job.
That’s how you know the list is shit.
The bar in my living room is pretty legit. Always makes the cocktails exactly how I like ’em
17 of the listed bars are in London or New York. LOL okay.
You what? Every single one of these places is God’s local watering hole because he’s everywhere so you better make good decisions or he’ll send you to fucking burn in hell for eternity 😉
For real though, Whiskey Priest in Boston is legit in the summer time.

How is Delirium café in Brussels not on this list? Over 2000 beers available!!! Best dive-ish beer bar in the world.
Best bar/village I’ve been too. Place is unbelievable and gets rowdy as hell. Drink menu is a 400 page book.
Not for nothing, but every time I’m given a list of 30 or so beers, extreme anxiety kicks in and I usually mumble a beer that I’ve had 1000 times because I just can’t make such an important decision.
If you order something and it sucks, order a new one.
can confirm this, and the name checks out.
Aviary? Oh for fucks sake.
Aviary is pretty much for people who think they’re rich or want to be rich (but aren’t) but know nothing about good food/drinks. They’re the people who are making $50,000 a year at most and drive a BMW to make people think they’re making way more.
My thoughts exactly. I get that it’s superior in technique and ingredients, but give me
Richards with some Tommy James on the juke and I’m all set.
Mulligan’s Brick Bar – Buffalo, NY
Toon’s – Chicago, IL
Paradise Park – Nashville, TN
6 dollar pitchers of Natural. Best bar on Broadway.
the Library Room at the Public Chicago is pretty cool too. You just have to make sure you’re getting reservations at the right place since there is a restaurant that is entirely different right beside it.
The Rail Pub – Savannah, GA
Nach Bar (for beer)/ Haymarket (for bourbon) – Louisville, KY
I cant believe that the Jayhawk Cafe didnt make this list
