In the past few days, it’s been impossible to turn on the news or scroll through your social media feed of choice without seeing “Brexit.” Britain’s exit from the EU has caused an international riot with results ranging from political uprisings to financial market instabilities. No matter what your take on Brexit is, at least one connotation of the word is about to make your happy hours a whole lot better, because Sam Adams is officially trademarking the buzzword of the week for their new hard cider.
Trademark attorney Alex Montgomery comments on the application:
“On June 24th, as the world was contemplating the consequences of the United Kingdom’s “Brexit” vote to leave the European Union…the beer company filed a trademark application with the Trademark Office for BREXIT in Class 033 for “[h]ard cider.” The application was filed on an intent-to-use basis. Don’t be surprised if the Boston Beer Company comes out with a BREXIT Cider soon.”
Get ready, because you may soon be able to order a round of Brexits for you and coworkers at your next happy hour – that is, if you don’t mind everyone hating you for ordering them a cider. Is this an ingenious attempt by Sam Adams to market a cider you actually want to order? Whether it will taste like the tears of David Cameron is yet to be determined, but you can bet I’ll definitely be picking up a six-pack for some CNN and chill.

Does it include recordings of Nigel Farage’s voice insulting people? Because if it did I would totally buy it.
We own Angry Orchard which is responsible for nearly 70% of the cider market. Our CEO Martin Roepper is British I think he just saw a chance to make money
