A shocking (SHOCKING!) report from Blowfish shows that 50% of Americans have admitted to showing up to work hungover and 20% have called in sick due to a hangover. Well, that’s neither shocking nor interesting. What is interesting is finding out which states love hitting the bottle, regardless of the day of the week. The two states leading the way should surprise no one.
Yep. That’s Michigan and West Virginia leading the way. In fairness, you have to be loaded at least 30 hours a week to put up with living in one of those states, so it should come as no shock to anyone that those states love calling in sick to work after a 15-round bout with Jim Beam. If you included “districts” as in “District of Columbia,” the citizens of our nation’s capital are showing up to work hungover in droves, with an overwhelming 30% of workers using sick days to nurse brutal hangovers. The hard working folks of the Great Plains have the lowest numbers in the nation, probably because most of them work with heavy machinery that could hack off a coworker’s limb after an ill-timed yawn or swig of Gatorade.
