Couldn’t agree more with you. A bunch of us went out to dinner this past weekend, I paid to get the points and everyone but one person Venmo’d me their share. That person asked I wait a few days until they get paid before they can pay me back. Wtf why are you going to a $50 a person dinner if you can’t pay for it there and then?
Don’t spend $200 on a night out or $70 on a dinner every week and budget better. Eat at home, stock up on stuff at Costco, etc. There’s so many things you can do with friends for a lot less/free and if your friends are good friends, they’ll understand.
Agreed. My cousin got married last September and still posts wedding pics at least once a month. She recently posted her wedding video on Facebook and got around 200 likes.
For politics, if you’re crazy like me and enjoy discussing them with your s/o’s parents and both sides are able to remain calm and understanding, I see nothing wrong with that. My girlfriend’s family LOVED Obama and hates Trump, but they’re very reasonable people. I’m fiscally and foreign policy conservative and socially liberal (for the most part) so I do have some things in common with them. We are able to discuss opposing viewpoints like minimum wage, the tinder box that is the Middle East, the wage gap (or lack thereof) calmly, but we don’t wade into areas that we’ve established we have to agree to disagree, like illegal immigration or the Second Amendment.
Also, to the guy who wants to limit his phone use – get a smartwatch. You get all the notifications without having to pull your phone out and resist the temptation to browse social media. I got my Apple Watch a few months ago and it’s been life changing compared to this. Half the time, if my girlfriend and I are going out to dinner or running errands, I leave my phone at home and just use the watch for any notifications/texting/calling.
To the girl moving in with her boyfriend: I would suggest splitting stuff by proportion of each other’s income to your combined income. I make a good amount more than my girlfriend does and we’ve been doing that for the last year. It works great. You guys have been together for four years and are planning on marrying so your money will be combined soon enough anyway. Might as well start now.
I’ve actually had good experiences with Uber CS. When I was in Paris a few weeks back, my Uber driver spent 35 minutes trying to get to my hotel (admittedly, the street layout in that area is atrocious). What was supposed to be a 10 Euro ride turned into a 45 euro ride. I disputed the transaction with Uber on the basis that the driver had bad navigation and they refunded me the difference right away.
They’re pretty identical. Some people don’t like Uber because of all the sketchy stuff their corporate pulled, but I don’t care. I use it more than Lyft because they somehow keep giving me promos (50% off on the first $10 of a ride, etc.)
They key with Uber is to never get a ride from someone with under 4.8 stars. Every single time I took one with one of those drivers, I nearly died so I stopped. If I get one below 4.8, I just cancel the ride.

On the contrary – if you’re so rich that you own the Patriots, you can afford to not give a fuck how you look because no one will judge you badly for that. But for us normal peons, it’s an awful style.
My biggest pet peeve is people who wear non-dress shoes with suits. Like I get it, dress codes around here are more casual than other cities, but why are you wearing sneakers with that Jos. A. Bank suit?
She was going to put it on her credit card, which I happen to know, she’s diligently paying off by making the minimum payment each month.

Congrats on the offer! Double celebrations for that and for your mom doing better.
A 25% bump is definitely a solid upgrade over your previous job and a 125% upgrade over what you are making now ($0).
Don’t forget all the cutting of explicit content. Totally ruins the experience.
I don’t understand why, in the age of Netflix, Hulu and HBO GO, anyone would watch a movie on cable TV.
Too bad their expenses are through the roof and they’re hemorrhaging money out of every orifice.

Forget Madoff’s comment above. This is the comment of the year and it’s not even close.
So this is what Homeland’s next season will be based on. Carrie Matthews marries into royalty to help save the world.
There’s also reputable internet literature on the right and wrong ways to get out of the friend zone. Still isn’t going to work 99% of the time.

I think that people in SF don’t realize that they dress badly and genuinely think they look good.
