I have a deadline by the end of the day today that I can’t miss. So either I work diligently and leave at a reasonable time, or I slack off and have dinner at my desk. So far, it’s been somewhere in between the two. I wish I had the luxury of cruising through a Monday.
Trader Joe’s or bust. Got in to my local one at 6 pm last night, finished loading up my car with groceries by 6:30 and dropped half a Benjamin for a week’s worth of stuff. Can’t beat that.
Thanks! The world class food, never worrying about heat, humidity or cold, gorgeous city views and an incredibly robust local economy make it all worthwhile.
This new place isn’t that much than our current place so we’re luckily not breaking the budget and are getting so much more in return. It’s not rent controlled, but the rents in SF have stabilized over the last year or two so I’m not too worried about it skyrocketing when it’s time to renew the lease last year.
Don’t need any, there’s plenty of them throughout the city and near my work and I see them all the time on my daily commute. At least this way I won’t be anywhere near them once I get home.
I’m 100% serious because for those who don’t know, there’s a massive homeless/drug use problem in San Francisco. Seeing used needles, human excrement or people shooting up in public is a pretty common occurrence here.
Today is the first of two moving weekends. Found a much better apartment with a gorgeous view of literally the whole eastern part of SF. Luckily the new apartment will be so high up that I won’t see any of the cracked out hobos taking a shit unless I look really closely. Starting things off tomorrow morning with a trip to IKEA to find a new couch and kitchen table, followed by moving and more moving.
We can’t work from home at my current company – we use desktops and are still working with physical paper and binders. But I actually like it this way because it also means that we are not expected to work when we are not physically in the office. Once I’m out at 5 PM, I’m out until 8 AM the next day/Monday. No texts from my boss (who doesn’t have my phone number) and no email access so I couldn’t work even if I wanted to.
In this day and age of people constantly working because they always have their laptops and email access, it’s nice to be able to not think about work at all once I’m no longer there.
None in San Francisco…but that’s probably a good thing because it’d cost billions in regulatory fees to build it and then hobos would pee all over it and junkies would do heroin underneath it.
Hey PGP, I think you have a bug in your iOS app that causes comments posted from the app to not appear at all within the app and to appear at the very bottom of the comments if viewed from a web browser.
“Their lips met gently, parted, and then met again more passionately. She fit perfectly in his arms with her lithe body pressed against his. He felt her hands run down his back as he cupped the smooth skin of her face and as let his hands surge through her hair.”
Solid description…someone’s been reading 50 Shades of Grey.
It’s from a winery called Dom Caudron and the only vintage they make. I forgot a zero and their production is closer to a million bottles, but still a drop in the bucket compared to the dozens of millions produced by the big wineries like Moet or Veuve.
I think that’s assumed. Well maybe not a full meal, but definitely some food beyond just chips/dip. When we had ours last year, we did pigs in a blanket and pizza. Fun was had, food was eaten, drinks were drunk and our toilet was hangover Christened the next morning.
It’s honestly fascinating. We went on a tour of Champagne when we were in France and learned a ton. I can’t speak to Veuve, but we visited Moet’s winery and it’s totally legit. Also, apparently Moet owns the Dom Perignon brand and it’s so expensive because it’s vintage (all the grapes are from the same year) and aged 10 years, vs. other, cheaper champagnes that are non vintage (like Moet, Veuve, etc.).
We bought a bottle of vintage from a small winery that only makes 100,000 bottles a year and are saving it for a special occasion.
Pro tip: Roedier is generally half the price of Veuve and tastes almost as good, especially if chilled. My girlfriend is a total champagne snob (as in, she’ll only call a drink “Champagne” if it is actually from Champagne, France; otherwise, she refers to it as “sparkling”) and Roedier is our go to “sparkling.”

You sound like you’d have some of the following in your Bumble profile:
“Love”, “Live”, “Laugh”, “Netflix”, pizza emoji, wine emoji, “Travel”, a picture from a music festival.

Same except I’d flip the donuts and beers.

Roederer*, not Roedier.

Pretty sure you’d go to jail for a youth handy.
I have no problem with a Stock the Bar party if you combine it as a housewarming.
Todd clearly doesn’t pull out. Why do you think he’s still with Girl?
