We’ve all worked abysmal jobs. When I was 15 years old, I was a dishwasher at a restaurant that had a specialty dish of whitefish chowder. You don’t know pain until your weak 15-year-old arms are trying to recover from scraping overcooked chowder out of a metal pot.
The simple and sad truth is this — there aren’t enough “cool” places to work in the world for all of us to love our respective careers. So, as if you didn’t hate your job enough, Glassdoor just revealed the top 10 places to work in America.
1. Airbnb
2. Bain & Company
3. Guidewire
4. Hubspot
5. Facebook
6. LinkedIn
7. Boston Consulting Group
8. Google
9. Nestlé Purina PetCare
10. Zillow
I just logged onto LinkedIn for the first time since spring to see if I had any friends that worked at any of these companies. I’ve got Facebook, LinkedIn, and Google covered, so I’m about to become very good friends with those people should my current gig not work out and I fall on hard times.
Glassdoor established their results by using the ratings submitted to their site. With over 1.6 million reviews and ratings of nearly every major American company, you’d have to imagine the results are pretttttty legit.
Now get out there, bolster up that résumé, and lob up a Hail Mary to one of these places. Worst case scenario is that you get denied a first interview… again..

I wonder where Glassdoor landed on the list.
The imagery in the first paragraph about “weak 15-year-old arms” has Dorn fully erect.
