I spend a hell of a lot of time at work on the Internet. Personally, anyone says they don’t is a big fat liar. And one of my favorite weeks of the year online is the one leading up to the Super Bowl. Why? Not because of the game (and especially not this year; damn you, Peyton Manning for ruining my and Tom Brady’s dreams). But because of the real attraction of Super Bowl Sunday – The Puppy Bowl! And in particular, the 24-hour live feed of the “contestants” getting ready for the main event.
In case you live under a rock, The Puppy Bowl is exactly what it sounds like: dogs playing football. This year, Animal Planet has worked with 44 different animal shelters across the country to fill the team rosters for the game with cute, adoptable pets for the 12th annual event. You can see the starting line-ups, and even make a pup fantasy page on Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl Page.
But back to the best part: the puppy cam. The idea is freaking genius. Animal Planet essentially has a camera focused on a “locker room” of puppies as they prepare for the big game. Meaning we get to watch the dogs of Team Ruff and Team Fluff eat, sleep and play 24/7 until kick-off at 3 o’clock on Sunday. It is literally the greatest time waster in the history of the universe for the canine-obsessed. Seriously, I’ve spent the last 45 minutes watching 5 yellow-and-white puppies play, and I couldn’t be happier about it. So pop open your browser and enjoy the show. You can thank me later. .
