During last night’s female-centric coverage of the Video Music Awards on MTV, there was one glaring omission – Taylor Swift. Those who are on the side of the Kardashians and Beyoncé will tell you that Taylor skipped the event because her “rival” (or partner in public relations crime, depending on how you look at it) Kanye West was given four minutes to say whatever the fuck he wanted. Well, he did. And he didn’t spare Taylor.
But, it looks like Taylor probably missed last night because she had to be in Nashville for the necessary evil that is jury duty. Seriously. Taylor Swift doing jury duty.
Sure, she’s got the bankroll to fly privately from JFK to Nashville after the VMAs were over. But as someone who grasps at every straw to get out of going out in public for events I don’t want to attend, jury duty is the perfect excuse to miss out.
Well, that and because everyone currently hates her. But still. .
