With apologies to some of my HIMYM-loving friends and colleagues, I think we can all agree that the Series Finale was pretty dreadful and left many fans feeling cheated out of a “proper” ending for the characters. I mean, the show is called “How I Met Your Mother,” not “How I Met Your Dead Mother and Would Rather Be With The Woman You Kids Call Aunt Robin.” Gross.
But in another blow to fans of the long-running CBS sitcom, the network announced at their Upfront presentation on Wednesday that they would not be moving forward with the spinoff, which looked like all but a guarantee to be ordered to series.
CBS said that there were “Elements of the pilot…that didn’t work out,” and while the network wanted to re-shoot the pilot episode, series co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas were unwilling to do so.
According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox TV, the studio that produced HIMYM and the HIMYD pilot, is actively shopping the pilot to other networks.
“…the studio is looking to make a decision over the next week, with executives confident that HIMYD would go to series somewhere.”
So while it seems like it’s dead for now, there may be hope elsewhere. But we’ve seen speculation like that before about other series, and sometimes, it just doesn’t work out. Look at what’s happening with the recent cancellation of “Community.” Stay tuned on this one, folks.

You could say spoiler at the top but who cares? They should have watched it by now. I liked the ending. Real life is not all sunshine, butterflies, rainbows, and “wife never dies”.
