Nah, it was always overhyped and overrated, with the ranking circle jerk ensuring that when SEC teams played each other, the winner would always get a bump in the rankings because the loser was already ranked high. Now that SEC actually has to play teams from other conferences that aren’t cupcakes, its lack of strength is apparent and it’s no different than any other conference.
