This is the good news we needed in the wake of the election. Between sifting through uninformed and hastily edited Facebook rants and checking Waze to make sure there aren’t any protests blocking my route home, what’s really important in the world has fallen by the wayside. And that “important” stuff I’m talking about is the justice for everyone’s favorite derp, Brendan Dassey of Making a Murderer.
But now, he’s free. Well, kind of – he’s free in the sense that he’ll be released from jail during his appeal in a supervised manner. Per Yahoo:
A judge has ordered Brendan Dassey to be released from prison, according to a Wisconsin Fox affiliate.
Dassey was convicted of the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach along with his uncle Steven Avery, a case that was the subject of Netflix’s true-crime docuseries “Making a Murderer.”
Dassey will reportedly have a supervised release from prison pending his appeal.
He previously had his conviction overturned by a judge, but Wisconsin has appealed the decision.
Free at last, free at last. There’s a “he can finally watch Wrestlemania” joke that I’m not going to make because it’s more tired than Strang and Buting staying up at all hours of the night trying to make a case for Steven Avery. But come on, Brendan can finally go home and play all the video games he wants which is something we can all get behind. .

Hope he gets to catch Wrestlemania this year
“And with that, the Nation’s healing process can finally begin. Back to you, Ted.”
Yea
Yeah?
Ya.
I dunno
Steven Avery was framed.
Hopefully, he will not only be supervised during his release but for the rest of his life. He has never given me confidence in his ability to not be supervised.
Great news to lift the spirits on a Monday!
