We may all be a bunch of miserable sons of bitches, but New York City now has a new weapon in its arsenal of lording things over other people: according to a study by the National Bureau of Economic research, New York City is the most unhappy city in America (data adjusted based on income and other factors).
This data, compiled by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, was based on this simple question: “In general, how satisfied are you with your life?”
The study then ranked those answers and adjusted them for housing prices, income, and age, among other factors.

Who are the happiest cities? According to the study:
5. Alexandria, Louisiana
4. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
3. Shreveport-Bossier City, Louisiana
2. Houma, Louisiana
1. Lafayette, Louisiana
