Worst questions ever. All the interviewers probably get together to compare the lies that are told to them. “Describe a situation where you defused an angry customer.”
“Well, let me tell you, first off he was LIVID! His rental car was broke down on the side of I-10 in the middle of nowhere and he called us. I immediately sprung into empathy mode. I told him, ‘you are not alone. I understand your frustration.’ At that point, I had calmed him down to a reasonable tone and just took the bull by the horns. I offered to come pick him up personally from 300 miles away, but suggested he call the rental car agency first. We were just a small hometown pizza shop. I offered him a free pizza if he were ever in town. Needless to say, he was happy at the end of the call.”
