Working in retail is no easy task. Trust me, I did it on and off for the better part of, like, seven years or something like that. I don’t know, I blocked some of it out because customers can be monsters and some days make you wonder why you’re on this earth. But the beauty of retail is that no day is the same as another. Each day, a snowflake.
Tumblr user kimpossibooty showed this by documenting his first five days at his new retail position at Target. The good, the bad, and the incredibly ugly. And by “incredibly ugly,” I mean the part where someone took a literal poop in one of the aisles. But don’t let that discourage you from reading his Tumblr posts in their entirety because they’re still highly entertaining.
Want to work at Target now? I hear they’re hiring. .

Wow. I am really bored at work today.
I wish someone would write this for Walmart.
I just read this entire thing because my boss is already gone for the long weekend. Reminded me of my retail working days.
THANKS WILL
This was so entertaining. I worked retail for a while myself. Sometimes I miss it, most days I don’t. I’ve always felt that with the right people, someone could make a great R rated comedy about working at a big box store.
Somebody beat you to this amazing idea
Don’t know if you were trying to burn me on this? I know that movie exists. But I said “R rated comedy” with the “right people”.
In theaters October 6? They re-releasing this classic?
This makes me so happy I never had the pleasure of working in retail.
I worked at Target when I was a junior in high school. Good times.
People wanted to murder me when I had to offer them a target credit card. The looks they gave me still haunt me. People would give me 100 coupons and say pick out the ones that work. The store opened early when one of the twilight books came out, that was a bad day.
Alas, it all came to an end when they tried forcing me to work black Friday. Yea, it’s retail and black Friday is pretty much a must work day. But I made it clear when I got hired that I had basketball practice that day and couldn’t work. It was either skip practice, which was unacceptable, or skip work, which society judges as unacceptable. I skipped work and never returned.
Both retail jobs I worked as a teenage I ended up ghosting rather than quitting .. it’s a rite of passage
all I got from day 3 was…target sells vodka?
Keep doing what you do, Will.
This gave me some PTSD flashbacks from working at PacSun in college. Makes me glad to be at a desk these days.
