Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a big John Oliver guy. I’m that dude in your Twitter feed RT’ing his latest segment because my man can break it down on a subject with the best of them. Needless to say, I’m just a big fan of the guy. Little did I know, apparently John is a fan of mine as well.
Back in 2015 I penned a piece titled Stop Blind Sharing On Facebook. Not gonna lie, the piece did pretty well. Your boy went viral. I don’t want to say I reached celebrity status overnight, but it was big for my personal brand.
However, judging by social media feeds throughout this past election cycle, not enough people read it. One who clearly did, however, was the aforementioned John Oliver.
In his return to Sunday prime time last night, Oliver did a main segment titled “Trump vs. Truth” that touched on where our president gets his intel from. At about the 20:40 mark, you’ll notice him stress a familiar concept to hammer home his point in the climax of his segment, but to get the context, I highly recommend you watch the whole thing.
That’s right, John Oliver is taking some cues from your boy and hopping on the “Stop Blind Sharing” bandwagon.
Last week during my guest appearance on Dudes Doing Business, we touched on what a plague blind sharing still is. Good to see John Oliver stepping up and doing his best to thwart the problem too.
Clearly, this is a case of “real recognizes real” so I’m glad that John and I could together bring this dialogue to our combined 3,300,808 Twitter followers. Looking forward to his people reaching out to my people to further the “Stop Blind Sharing” cause. .
