Remember Pizza Hut’s “Book It!” literacy program from way, way back in the day? The program that gave you free Pizza Hut pizza just for READING? Well, get ready to feel old, because the program just turned 30.
That’s right. The “Book It” program was launched in 1984, when the company’s president at the time had a son who struggled with reading in school, and rewarded him with pizza every time he worked on his reading skills. So it just hit the big 3-0, much like many of you millennials have either just turned, or are staring down the barrel towards, and is rapidly approaching imminently.
Well, Pizza Hut wants to give something back for the “Book It!” program’s 30th Birthday: FREE PIZZA. All you have to do to get this free pizza is sign up for the Book It! Alumni Program on their website. They’ll send you a voucher for the “Book It!” program’s iconic reward, a free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza.
There’s even a (janky) commercial to celebrate the Anniversary, hosted by “The Voice” coach and current Pizza Hut pitchman Blake Shelton. Blake Shelton can read, you guys!
Better sign up now, though, the offer only lasts until October 10th.

I knew reading all of those Matt Christopher books would one day pay off.
“The Kid Who Only Hit Homers” was the shit, man.
