They say you can’t buy happiness. But you can buy former Google CEO and current executive chairman Eric Schmidt a cup of coffee, if you’ve got $50,000.
For the next fourteen days, you can bid on a coffee date with the former captain of the tech titan. Currently, the bidding is at $9,000. Sounds reasonable, right? Oh, the estimated sale value is $50,000 and the bidding just started.
This isn’t the first time tech moguls have offered themselves for a coffee date to the highest bidder. Earlier in the year, Apple CEO Tim Cooke auctioned off his half-caff order for a remarkable $330,000. Last year, Warren Buffett managed to part $156,000 from some sorry soul for an armchair in a local coffee house.
Snapchat co-founder Bobby Murphy has a parallel auction with a current bid of $7,500, which is odd considering his company’s affinity for turning down ludicrous offers. He seems like a green tea kind of guy, anyway.
So, officially starting now, I’m auctioning off the opportunity to split a sixer with the Nard Dawg. The bidding ends when someone offers enough to cover the cost of the beer and mozzarella sticks. Go.
