Houston, this is it. Tonight is the night. Game 7 of the World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers after knocking out both the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees. That is some Hollywood movie script shit. It doesn’t get any better.
After being swept by the White Sox in 2005, three consecutive 100-loss seasons, and countless unwatchable dumpster fire games, we finally have our team of destiny. This is the squad, and the timing couldn’t be better.
Hurricane Harvey parked and pissed on our city for days in an unprecedented natural disaster. But we’re still here. Tens of thousands lost their homes and everything they had to floodwaters. But we’re still here. It’s been a tough couple of months to say the least. But we’re still fucking here.
They said the Astros were too young and too inexperienced to make a real run. But we’re still here. They said Verlander would let us down when push came to shove. But we’re still here. They said Springer couldn’t hack it on the big stage after game one. But we’re still here. They said Altuve was too short. But we’re still here. Choosing someone from our bullpen is basically playing Russian roulette. But we’re still fucking here.
Tonight is for everyone still trying to pick up the pieces. Tonight is for every Houstonian who lived and died and never got to see the Astros win even one World Series game. Tonight is for all the Yao Ming injuries, every first round exit, every Matt Schaub pick-six, every Brock Osweiler pass that landed 10 feet out of bounds, every Albert Pujols heartbreaking homer, for every season that ended in disappointment. The city of Houston stood up and showed its true colors in the wake of Harvey, and this Astros team has been standing right there with us. Tonight will be no different. Tonight is for Screwston. Tonight is for H-Town. It’s time to earn history.
Soak in every moment. Enjoy every swing of the bat. Cherish every pitch. Because shit like this doesn’t happen often, as you know all too well. This shit is special. This team is special. This city is special. So crack a cold one in an attempt to take the edge off, throw on a rally cap or toss in a rally dip or do whatever it is you do when necessary during the game, and have a blast watching with your friends and family.
This is Houston. This is our time. This is Game 7. This is it.
LET’S GO ASTROS. .
