Remember “Flappy Bird”? It seems like so long ago now that everyone on earth was obsessed with that insanely-difficult game with backgrounds that looked like a Super Mario World rip-off, which caused people all over the world to break their phones out of frustration. Personally, I was more of a Fratty Bird man myself; I preferred hearing “Frat” every time I touched the screen over whiffs and high-pitched chimes.
Well, the creator of “Flappy Bird,” Dong Nguyen, is back with a vengeance, with his new game that will take up most of your workplace bathroom breaks: “Swing Copters.”
“Swing Copters” is basically Flappy Bird on a Y-Axis. The game features a little creature with a propeller hat, and you have to fly upwards, avoiding swinging hammers that will smack you back down to terra firma. You tap the screen to swing your bird one way or another. The game looks just as difficult to master as its predecessor.
Swing Copters drops on iOS and Android on Thursday, August 21 as a free download, with a one-time, in-game purchase of 99 cents if you want to get rid of the advertisements. And, apparently, Mr. Nguyen has more games coming.
