It’s the weekend before Christmas and all through the house… Jenna was lying on various couches battling the stomach bug. My weekend was spent migrating from lying in the living room to lying in the den to lying in bed while living on a steady diet of ginger ale and English muffins. Thankfully, I’m feeling better but I’m thinking these people probably aren’t.
Ashanti’s Friends
If you’re close enough to a famous singer/actress to be on her Christmas list, I imagine you’d expect a pretty amazing gift. Some jewelry, maybe an expensive watch, or perhaps a fancy handbag. But if you’re on Ashanti’s list this Christmas, you are going to be mightly disappointed.
In a Page Six article that I am not convinced is actually an advertisement, the “What’s Luv?” songstress and John Carter Must Die actress stated that everyone on her list is getting… Kopari Coconut Deodorant. Yeah, it’s $14 bucks a pop, which is ridiculous, but still, deodorant for Christmas?
According to Ashanti, “It’s vegan and it’s all natural. It has none of the phosphate and all the fake stuff in it and it’s made from pure coconut oil and it smells amazing. There’s a lot of good stuff in here and it works. The true test was that I took it to the gym today.”
Um, cool. I’m still gonna be pissed if I get deodorant for Christmas. [via Page Six]
Southern Charm’s J.D. Madison
My quota of bad reality TV is full with The Bachelor, but I’m told that Southern Charm is one of the best of the worst. And worst is probably how one of the stars if feeling this weekend.
J.D. Madison, apparently “best known as Thomas Ravenel’s buddy,” was arrested on Saturday in Charleston, SC after a warrant was issued for his arrest for a check violation charge. As of Sunday, he was still in custody.
This arrest comes after Madison was accused of sexual assault in August regarding an alleged 2017 incident. His bestie isn’t doing so well either – Ravenel was arrested in South Carolina in September regarding an alleged assault on a woman.
You know what? A show with two dudes that (allegedly) assault women is one I’m going to take a hard pass on. [via TMZ]
Houston Texans
It was a doubly bad Sunday for the Texans.
The first blow came in the fourth quarter of the game against the Eagles when star WR Demaryius Thomas was carted off the field after planting his left foot. The non-contact injury turned out to a torn Achilles, and Thomas will be out the rest of the season.
The loss of Thomas was quickly followed by the loss of the game: Philadelphia kicker Jake Elliott made 35-yard field goal as the clock expired, giving the Eagles the 32-30 win.
As a Patriots fan, the second loss here makes me giddy, but the first one sucks – I hate to see anyone hurt. [via ESPN]
Kansas Basketball
It’s early in the college basketball season, but No. 1 Kansas got their first shock of the season on Saturday when they were beaten (and handed their first loss) by No. 18 Arizona in Tempe.
According to Bleacher Report:
While it was a close battle throughout, Arizona State didn’t get its first lead until 2:23 remaining when Edwards nailed a clutch three-pointer. After Lawson tied the game with a pair of free throws, it was Remy Martin who came through for the home team with a two-point jumper to go up 78-76.
Looks like Mr. Martin may be getting a little more than coal in his stocking this year. [via Bleacher Report]
Eric Reid
Adding it to the file…
1) Legal play (even if it wasn’t, there’s minimal contact)
2) Was not flagged by officials
3) $20,054 fine from the league office #DulyNoted pic.twitter.com/H30AFcGdDs— Eric Reid (@E_Reid35) December 21, 2018
Of course, Reid’s deal with the Panthers is worth to $1.9 million, so let’s not feel too bad for him. .
