A new mobile dating app called The League, which is tailored specifically for ‘elite’ singles, hosted a swanky party in Montauk, Long Island this past weekend to promote the app’s New York launch. The party, located at the most prestigious beach destination in all of New York, included some of the most eligible, ambitious singles in the northeast, including former O.C. star Mischa Barton. Since being released in January, The League has slowly expanded from its San Francisco-exclusive availability, and this seems to be its ‘coming out’ big deal of a marketing campaign. By the looks of it, The League has arrived.
This hyper-niche dating outlet will undoubtedly rub some people the wrong way, but just like owners and members of country clubs, I doubt the people involved and qualified for The League care what other people think about their association. According to Business Insider, The League actually has a considerably thorough selection process that takes into account your LinkedIn profile, higher education, and network of friends.
Even aside from the classy Great Gatsby-esque setting, everything about this app is elitist as fuck, and I’m all for that. For me, the most primary factor in any kind of dating is having a similar outlook on life, so what better way to bring people together based on the fact that they’re just better than everyone else, and they know it?
After scrolling through all of those #maroonedinmontauk pictures the past half hour, it just may be time to readjust my life goals to being eligible for this pretentious thing. My early-twenties status as a middle-of-the-road SEC graduate with an extremely modest starting salary job, I’m not gonna bank on making the cut just yet.
But hey, that’s what quarter-life crisis business school paths are for, right?.

Not gonna make it with that whip you got.
Meh, the hashtag was less than impressive
Anyone notice how the girls are disproportionately worse looking than the guys?
