If you’re anything like me, you think it’s socially acceptable to work in references to Disney in casual conversation, as such connections come off as inviting and friendly in any context. With the right touch, a grown man making a Toy Story reference can give off the ideal air of charm that we all hope to strive for.
Such moves are about to be much more accessible.
Disney announced that within the coming months, iOS and Android users alike will have access to a combination of over 400 emojis that include our favorite Disney animated characters. Taking away from the official announcement’s video alone, the emojis will include characters’ wide range of emotions from the likes of Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, Bambi, Lilo and Stitch, Monsters, Inc., and all the way up to finding Dory. To compliment this marketing tactic, Disney has released a series of adorable “____ As Told By Emoji” YouTube series that condenses their classics through the use of emojis.
A significant catch with this news, though, is that the emojis do not come at a single-purchase price. Instead, you have to diligently earn the emojis through a Disney-produced game called Emoji Blitz. According to a report, Emoji Blitz “involves matching characters to score points” and that “The more points you rack up, the more emojis you collect.”
I haven’t resembled anything close to even a casual gamer (phones included) since fifth grade — to me, if I’m going to spend time being competitive towards something totally useless, I’d much rather it be something along the lines of mopping the floor with Will deFries in ping pong. But if playing a mindless game means gaining access to the most dope set of emojis known to mankind? Sign me up and clear my schedule..
Can’t wait to see how the ladies work these into their Bumble profiles
I am so excited.
