Late Night shows, as most of you know, are taped in the early afternoon, not late at night, when they air. As such, if a major news story breaks that night, they have to cover it the next day. The East Coast shows wrapped taping long before the news of Robin Williams’ passing broke, but West Coast shows like “Conan” heard the tragic news in the middle of taping.

So at the end of the show taping, Conan O’Brien broke the news to his audience. Sitting alongside guest Will Arnett and sidekick Andy Richter, the trio paid a very raw, emotional tribute to the late, great comedy legend Robin Williams. Very powerful.
