A question for this Friday:
what's the rule on keeping political signs in your yard? I think you have 2 business days to gloat or show you're still resisting, then it's time. If it's still there when you put your Christmas lights up, I'm leaving an anonymous note in the mailbox

I’m sure the HOAs have plenty of restrictions, and if someone wants to do a First Amendment analysis of city ordinances placing restrictions on political signs, I’d probably read it. But I’m just talking about neighborly etiquette here, not statutory restrictions.
Mailbag Podcast is live on its own feed. Please subscribe, leave a review, mash 5 stars, tell your family, say a prayer, and enjoy it.

Duda Is Funny Pick Of The Week
Chugging DayQuil Is A Right Of Passage For All Cube Jockeys
At least twice a week I say to Will, “Have you read this Duda column? It’s good.” This one was nails. Year one in a cubicle will require at least three separate DayQuil binges, if you’re lucky.
Stay blessed, mates..
I’m all in on the Mailbag pod! I love it.
pls write.
Pls be a mailbag guest host
Maybe I’m spoiled from reading a certain Boston-based blog over the past few years, but I find myself constantly wishing there was more written content on here. Podcasts are great but it’s a bummer to load up the site and see only 3 new articles on some days.
strong agree, but i may be biased because i literally do not listen to podcasts.
Yeah I kinda fazed out of the podcasts. I’m more of a written content guy, so I would love more articles, especially fiction. But I think the money is in the podcasts. Otherwise the site wouldn’t be changing it’s focus
Not saying that you should change your entire brand, but amped up, over-caffeinated Dave is pretty hilarious
He’ll be back.
If we got a “Micah Monday: Big Muffin SZN” I wouldn’t be mad.
Love the new series!
I about lost my mind when Micah talked about pullin up to the office with a “sixer” of bigass muffins.
Need Dave to be permanent on Back Door Cover, or at least once a week every week for the remainder of football and basketball season. The Mailbag pod was also the funniest it’s ever been this week. Keep it up
In Maryland, HOAs may restrict political yard signs to a time period of 30 days before the Election and seven days after the Election. Generally, HOAs can do time/place/number/size restrictions, but not the actual content of the sign. Suing HOAs is usually a colossal waste of time and you’re more likely than not going to lose – not worth the $250-300 an hour for a land use attorney.
Since this seems to get brought up every feedback Friday, let me lay it out for the Female viewership of PGP. It’s not too much to ask for more of a female perspective on this website, PGP and Grandex just simply don’t care enough about the female patrons, and their actions show it. Sure they try to get some perspective from remote writers, but let’s be honest, have they put their money where their mouth is in regards to full time content? The closest thing to a Women’s perspective in series form is TGDAG, and let’s be honest, this is just a big long series that everyone loves to hate read because it highlights how insufferable some women can be postgrad. TSM is dead, and the podcasts are just a bunch of dudes talking about the same stuff, with the occasional female guest appearance. Shoutout to Katie though, she’s been carrying the female perspective on this website as of late, and I’m sure all the higher ups at Grandex are counting on her to continue to do so……as a remote writer
It’d be cool if I could hire everyone I wanted to, but unfortunately that’s not the world we live in.
So everyone you’ve decided to hire has just happened to be a white male? Unfortunately that’s the world we do live in
Come on, man. It’s Friday. Enjoy yourself.
I’m a female and I honestly think they do an okay job at making most of the content gender neutral. Just because a male is the one writing the piece, doesn’t mean it’s male focused. i.e. Laws I’d Enact, Big Chapstick, Bless You and Worst Weekend articles are all very gender neutral. I do think it’d be cool to have a female written series in addition to TGDAG though. Just my 2 cents.
To be fair, Duda’s existence is gender neutral. And he wears blouses
I’m not going to say “PGP and Grandex just simply don’t care enough about the female patrons, and their actions show it.” But I would love more women writing and I’m a dude. Especially in the fiction writing (which are always my favorite articles).
I don’t think Grandex doesn’t care. I think some of it might be that it seems to be the audience be largely male. I’m just guessing from the commentators that it seems to be mostly male so they seem to write more from the male perspective.
Anyway, yeah more female writers and stories.
Wait, but why? Is it because you genuinely feel that women can provide a perspective and writing style that men can’t, which will help PGP expand its readerbase? Or is it because it’s 2018 and everything needs to be 50% men and 50% women?
Dude listen to yourself, of course women can provide a perspective that men can’t? Just like Men can provide a perspective women can’t
You must have missed the last part of my comment: “which will help PGP expand its readerbase.” Like Ms. Fizzle said, a lot of their content is gender neutral so it wouldn’t necessarily matter whether those pieces were written by men or women.
Yeah, but she also said she thinks it’d be cool to have a series written by a woman. It helps to have more representation because it’ll draw in new readers who want to see takes from people they can relate to. All the current male PGP writers are fantastic, but to a newcomer who isn’t a white male it could be alienating.
We’ve had several series written by our female writers, but as I’m sure anyone can attest, it’s difficult to keep series running for extended periods of time. I have the luxury of TGDAG being a part of my full-time job, but remote writers have a lot of things going on behind the scenes that stops them from writing regularly.
Bullshit. Female voice on “gender neutral” topics is diff than a male voice. Diverse perspective is always good, you’re just a pompous asshole
Because I feel that women or POCs or people of the LGBT community or whoever can offer a different, and hopefully, entertaining and funny look at post grad life.
It’s not about metrics or meeting a quota, I just think that it would be good for the site. Especially since so much of this site revolves around dating and dating stories; I’m sure a lot of dudes could benefit from a woman perspective on dating.
I’m not saying it’s going to change everything. But I don’t see why it would be a bad thing
PGP cycles through a lot of new writers both male and female, if one really gets the clicks going I’m sure they keep them on as remote then eventually pay them. But if a writer doesn’t do clicks, they go bye-bye as this enterprise is built on clicks & listens by the folks that created TFM (alive) and TSM (dead). The divide in success between TFM and TSM should show you that this format (not company) is more geared towards the 18-35 Male demo, which is also the golden goose of demo’s. Furthermore, if you don’t like it, Jimmy aka ATLGuy… leave. All you do is bitch, whine and hate on people just out here trying to have some fun and easy banter on the interwebs.
When was the last time I bitched about the tone of this website? I don’t even really attack the PGP staff, and I’ve always fucked with Duda heavy. Yeah I start arguments in the comments, but hey that’s half the fun of this website, and I think a little trolling/devil’s advocate is healthy for a site like this, keeps things interesting. Yeah I may have been hard on Nick in the past, but it gave us a good article about his day to day life. If you got off of your high horse of defending this site like it’s holy and sacred then you might have more fun man
I’m still convinced you and Jimmy are the same person and I am on a crusade against ya’ll, not FOR PGP. but that’s a different conversation for a different thread
Damn man, Jimmy was right, you are a little too obsessed with grown men. I really have no idea why there are so many “theories” about me. I’m not a grandex employee, I’m not Jimmy, I’m a normal guy from the south side of Atlanta
Ern?
If you have such a problem with it Jimmy, read Cosmo or something idk. Get fired up about something else.
The dislikes are indicative of it being male readership. I think as a bare minimum, pgp should take more chances with first articles from applicants or submitted columns from women and see how they’re received. Obvious opportunity to grow readership. It’s just being gender neutral, but having a female voice on these seemingly neutral topics that matters
I think you are right that there is an obvious opportunity to grow readership. However, if the majority of your customers and clicks are from a particular demo, you don’t want to lose that revenue. It’s a balancing act and I think that they are doing what’s best for business right now.
You guys should have a “recipes” page similar to the way the wall operates. You could have people submit them and have them posted for people to comment, tweak, try etc. Feel like that would be pretty on brand.
Personally I know how to make like 1 thing. Would love somewhere to go and get some ideas/help from other dumbass 20 and 30 year olds as opposed to randomly googling things then having no idea how to actually execute.
Working with Duda and McGannon to do something similar on PGP Instagram.
